Altronic has long been regarded as the world's leading manufacturer of ignition and control systems for industrial engines largely used in the oil and gas industry. Our products represent the industry standard for quality, which are all designed to improve engine performance and enhance reliability. Altronic is seeking a Systems Engineer to take full ownership of embedded electronics projects for the industrial stationary engine market. This is a hands-on role where you will serve as the technical lead for major product development initiatives - from initial concept through production release and field support.
You will be responsible for guiding a small team to complete projects end-to-end: defining system architecture, making critical technical decisions, coordinating cross-functional efforts (hardware, firmware, mechanical, compliance), and actively contributing to electronics hardware design. Ideal candidates combine strong systems-level thinking with practical electronics engineering skills, enabling them to both architect robust, mission-critical control systems and personally design high-reliability circuit boards that survive decades in harsh industrial environments.
This position is perfect for an engineer who thrives on ownership, enjoys balancing big-picture strategy mixed with the details of circuitry and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with engineering manger to make key technical decisions on architecture, technology selection, risk trade-offs, and design direction.
Drive project schedules, milestones, and deliverables while managing scope, budget, and resources.
Lead a small team for entire product development cycles
Ensure seamless integration of hardware, firmware, and mechanical packaging for vibration/shock/thermal/EMI-heavy environments.
Personally design analog/digital circuits, schematic creation
Perform component selection, layout oversight (or direct layout), and signal integrity analysis.
Work closely with firmware engineers, test technicians, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Support root-cause analysis on field returns and legacy product issues.
Contribute to continuous improvement of our design processes, tools, and component libraries.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or related field
7+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or project ownership role.
Designed industrial-grade embedded hardware (rugged electronics for harsh environments strongly preferred).
Strong analog and digital circuit design experience (schematics, PCB layout principles, power electronics, sensor interfacing).
Hands-on proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, vibration tables).
Experience with real-time embedded systems, including requirements definition, risk management, and verification/validation.
Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (CAN/J1939, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Preferred Requirements
Direct experience with stationary engine controls, ignition systems, or heavy-duty industrial electronics.
Familiarity with safety-critical design practices and certifications (UL 508, IEC 61508, ATEX).
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment. Standard business hours apply, with flexibility to meet project deadlines as needed.
Compensation & Benefits: The company offers a competitive salary, health benefits, and opportunities for professional development.

Job Description
