Under the supervision of the On Site Shift Supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker/Helper (GMW/Helper) performs work in maintenance, repair and operation of complex buildings equipment and systems such as performed by a stationary engineer, air conditioning equipment mechanic, maintenance electrician and/or maintenance plumber/pipe fitter. The GMW/Helper performs preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment and maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of heating and plumbing equipment.
Under the direct supervision of qualified personnel, performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at the facility, including carpentry, glazier, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, grounds maintenance, and masonry tasks; reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate supervisor for action; completes service requests and updates work logs for specific site requirements; removes and responds to safety hazards; as a part of the site support team, assists with special projects periodically as directed; maintains clean, safe and orderly work sites.
Electrical: performs basic electrical repair work for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, appliances, and lighting systems; reports unsafe electrical conditions.
Plumbing: Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces seals and other minor parts;
Grounds Maintenance: Maintains grounds in clean, safe, and orderly manner.
Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassembles equipment.
Maintains parts, supplies, and equipment advising the supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
Maintain related records concerning time, labor and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and write reports as necessary.
Assists with the completion of work orders; work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects
Assist with the team when responding to emergency calls.
Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Demonstrate a commitment to Safety First Environment through personal actions. Follow Corrective Action Plans to resolve quality and safety issues as they arise.

The DOL VETS TAP program is in need of a skilled and compassionate Facilitator who has prior experience teaching and/or instructing military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations.
In this role, you will:
Teach and/or instruct military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations
Guide transitioning military service members in identifying goals along with recognizing any employment or education gaps
Provide transitioning service members (Active, Reserve, National Guard), family members, and veterans a comprehensive understanding of preparing for civilian employment, job searching, job application processes, networking, technical training opportunities and credentialing
Assist in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools

The Fire Alarm System Mechanic will:
Responsible for performing specialized skilled tasks pertaining to fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems to include pumps, valves and motors.
Duties include establishing and maintaining fire alarm testing and inspection programs, assuring all fire alarm systems have passed inspection, establishing a training program to assure proper operation of fire alarm systems, monitoring inspection schedules, and initiating minor repairs to fire alarm systems.
Uses specialized tools and testing instruments of the electrical trade. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for technical quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components.
Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.R

Performs necessary and essential electrical work required to maintain and operate heating and air conditioning systems

Maintains, repairs, and installs hot water boilers, heat pumps of various tonnage, low pressure steam boilers, forced air, and other related equipment
Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs air compressors
Becomes knowledgeable in and utilizes the government's Recurring Work Program in maintaining systems on base
Performs other related duties associated to the job classification
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications and Experience:

The Fire Alarm System Mechanic is responsible for the effective management of assigned tools, equipment and other resources in the accomplishment of contract requirements in performance of services, installations and repairs of Fire alarm control systems and Sprinkler systems in the John A. Gordon Albuquerque Complex (JAGAC) utilizing knowledge of Fire theory, pipefitting and structural layout.
The Fire Alarm System Mechanic will:
* Responsible for performing specialized skilled tasks pertaining to fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems to include pumps, valves and motors.
* Duties include establishing and maintaining fire alarm testing and inspection programs, assuring all fire alarm systems have passed inspection, establishing a training program to assure proper operation of fire alarm systems, monitoring inspection schedules, and initiating minor repairs to fire alarm systems.
* Uses specialized tools and testing instruments of the electrical trade. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who reviews work for technical quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
* Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components.
* Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
* Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
* Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
* Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.R
* Complies with applicable federal, state, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
* Follows ALMS furnished information and directives; ALMS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ALMS Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
* Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
* Inspect and maintain Notification Appliance Circuit (NAC) controllers
* Inspect and perform maintenance on both wet and dry riser
* Perform preventive maintenance on fire pumps
* Serve as POC for the project on all matters concerning Fire Alarm System
* Assist sub-contractor personnel
* Be familiar with Fire System Sprinkler Design and Layout
* Service and repair the Public Address System
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
NlCET Level II certification required. Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or five to seven years journeyman level fire alarm experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: NICET Level II certification required.
