What You'll Do:
Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient's function.
Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care
Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
Prepare a report of each client's diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations
Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff
Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider's plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client's response to therapy
Qualifications:
Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment
Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance

Speech Pathologist Speech Pathology/Per Diem

Assesses, diagnoses and treats disorders of Speech; articulation, fluency, and voice, Language; including expressive communication in oral, written, graphic and manual modalities, Oral, pharyngeal cervical esophageal and related functions including; swallowing disorders, oral function for feeding and orofacial myofunctional disorders, cognitive aspects of communication; including communication disability and other functional disabilities associated with cognitive impairment, Social aspects of communication; including challenging behavior, ineffective social skills, lack of communication opportunities. Is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the plan of care for the person served. Performs and directs administration of all speech therapy modalities & collaborates throughout the process with the person served, his/her family and the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: M.S.or M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology, Communicative Disorders or equivalent certified program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current ASHA and New Mexico Speech & Language Pathology or current Clinical Fellowship Licensure required. BLS issued through American Heart Association certification required.
SKILLS: Demonstrates accountability and skills in assessment/evaluation, decision making and time management. Should have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years post CFY experience (preferred) or current Clinical Fellowship License. Atleast one year of previous clinical experience with neurologically impaired adults and dysphagia, including radiologic assessment. (preferred). .
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
Responsible to: Director/Manager, Rehabilitation Services
ENVIRONMENT: Works in a clean, well lighted, ventilated smoke-free environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, combative patients and hazardous chemicals. Minimal X-ray exposure. Subject to stressful professional relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Good physical condition.Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking. Lifts, positions, and transfers patients and manipulates occupied equipment. Lifts supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs. Potential strains resulting from lifting heavy patients and equipment.

Evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders. Records speech samples and conducts phonetic analyses of speech ability. Documents test results and recommends remedial treatment. Performs evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation and auditory skills. Confers with associates and institutes treatment utilizing corrective exercises and special equipment. Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Bachelor's Degree required. Speech Therapy/Pathology license required. FLSA Status: Non-exempt.
Responsibilities:
The staff Speech Language Pathologist is directly responsible to the manager/coordinator and/or his or her designee. Assists with the direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students utilized in the department/facility. Responsible for interpreting and carrying out the prescription of the physician; receiving and writing verbal orders from physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or physician assistants in accordance with practice act guidelines; good public relations; protection of confidential data; economic use of time; equipment and supplies; and safety and welfare of patients and other associates. Performs other diverse duties as requested.
Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Speech Language Pathology.
Experience:
New graduates are accepted for this position, although experience is preferred. CFY supervision may be arranged.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
Must have, or is eligible for, state licensure.
Must present license prior to employment.
CPR-AHA. American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) card required within one year of hire/transfer.

What You'll Do:
Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient's function.
Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care
Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
Prepare a report of each client's diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations
Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff
Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider's plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client's response to therapy
Qualifications:
Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment
Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance
