Responsibilities


Paramedic - Ambulance Provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency. Responsibilities involve preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post response duties. Also attends to patients being transported by ambulance on non-emergency calls and is responsible for the patient's safety en route. Responsible for performing an initial assessment of the scene and patient including obtaining a brief targeted history and completing a physical exam. Recognizes and evaluates patients who require immediate attention and when necessary initiates emergency lifesaving treatment. Delivers and/or supervises the delivery of emergency patient care such as administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen and resuscitation with an ambu bag. Intubates when necessary. Inserts IVs and administers medication according to physician order or ACLS protocol. Also may participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other programs as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education : High school graduate or equivalent required. Successful completion of Paramedic program.

Required Minimum Certification : Current certification as Paramedic in the state of Georgia. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Must complete annual training and CEU requirements. Maintains current AHA CPR and ACLS. Maintains current PALS.

Required Minimum Experience : One year of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician highly preferred .

BSA provides 24 hour paramedic care through our ambulance service, which responds to emergencies in Canyon and 825 square miles of Randall County. BSA EMS staffs two stations 24/7/365, one in northern Randall County and one in Canyon.


Responsibilities



Responsible for responding to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and transports the patient to a medical facility. Determine the nature & extent of the patient's condition. Provides appropriate emergency care & transports patient when necessary. Assess injuries and renders emergency medical care to injured or ill individuals. Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facility.


Qualifications



Education/Licenses/Certifications :
Current TX Paramedic license is required
National Registry certification is preferred
Current ACLS, PHTLS, PALS or PEPP is required within 80 days of employment
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR is required
Valid minimum Class C Texas Driver License with restriction "A" permissible
Must be 21 years of age or older with excellent driving record
Completion of the following Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.A is required within 80 days of employment
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Previous field experience is strongly preferred
Demonstrates competency handling emergencies utilizing all BLS equipment and skills in accordance with all local protocols and behavioral objectives in the US Department of Transportation EMT-Basic curriculum.
Use good judgment and remain calm in high stress situations including situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.
Calculate weight and volume ratios and read small print, both under life-threatening time constraints.
Accurately discern street sign and address numbers and able to read maps
Must have good critical thinking skills and perform duties under intermittent or continuous physiological duress
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills required
Emergency situations and/or on-call require staff availability within 30-minutes

We are hiring Paramedics with a passion to compassionately deliver high-quality service and basic, as well as advanced patient care in a professional, caring, and cost-effective manner. Paramedics assess provide patient care and assess each call to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol; performs related responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities:
• Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
• Drive the ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
• Continuously maintain all required certifications.
• Communicate with dispatcher to receive and understand call data and customer feedback.
• Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response.
• Document activities regarding patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
• Follow policies and procedures regarding out-of-chute times and turnaround times.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to successfully pass Physical Agility Test.
• Aptitudes required for work of this nature are good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times.
• Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Some advanced education preferred.
• Current state Paramedic License.
• Possess a valid State Driver's License.
• Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS Provider Certification (where applicable or required by contract).
