Working At Ameren

Ameren Corp. is an energy company that serves Easter Missouri and parts of Illinois. But they aren't just providing energy the old fashioned way. They are building a smarter, more reliable and resilient energy grid. And in doing this, they are making the lives of the millions of people they serve much better and safer.

The company has pushed to stay up to date with all the latest technologies in the field, and even to get ahead of the curve. Dominick, an App Dev Specialist Lead, said, "The innovation initiative at Ameren is very progressive. We're looking at what's disrupting out there in other industries and see what we can do to leverage that in our company." They use robotics, AI, digital workforce, solar panel technology, and other cutting edge technologies to provide the best service while also being socially responsible and efficient.

"In executing our strategy, we also realize we have a responsibility to do it the right way. We have to carefully balance the interest of the customers in the communities we serve, the environment, our workforce, and our shareholders. When it comes to corporate social responsibility, effectively balancing these interests is our priority," Warner Baxter said. Baxter is a Chairman, the President, and CEO of Ameren.

Theresa, VP of Internal Audit, said, "I think what we do here at Ameren definitely stems from the culture. If you don't have a good culture, then you don't have a good base. I never cease to be amazed at how dedicated, and just how bright and smart and active everyone is." Other employees have said that, from the top down, Ameren employees live an breathe the all-in mentality. That makes the executives and upper management extremely approachable and understanding.

Ameren has continually ranked in the top echelon for company diversity in local and state workplace awards. Baxter said, "We are committed to diversity and inclusion not just because it's the right thing to do, but because diverse perspectives and an inclusive environment for our co-workers lead to continuous improvement, innovation and better business results for our customers and shareholders. Diversity and inclusion is about accepting people with different backgrounds, cultures, all abilities, and experiences and allowing to contribute in their own special way."
