About The Position The Engineer provides engineering support in all phases of maintenance, operations, design, and modifications at all Ameren Energy Centers. Key responsibilities include: Perform engineering studies to improve Energy Center reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety. Perform field inspections, monitor operation, provide preventive maintenance recommendations, and provide information to optimize maintenance activities on assigned equipment. Implement various codes and standards to assure Energy Center is in compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations. Utilize Energy Center and outside resources as the System Owner for assigned equipment to implement continuous improvement. Optimize reliability and cost through the use of predictive technologies, PI system (Plant Information Monitoring and Data Storage System) industry associations and Energy Center personnel resources. Actively support various programs such as Plant Reliability Optimization (PRO) and the Corrective Action Program (CAP). Follow and support Design Control and other Quality Management System policies and procedures. Responsible for development of engineering solutions, estimates of cost and schedule, maintenance and repair specifications, in coordination and liaison with operating and maintenance groups at the Energy Centers. Responsible for the preparation of required reports, job requisitions, work orders, and other documents; maintenance of records; and revision of drawings. Implement Computer technologies to use Energy Center facilities in the most cost-effective manner. Interact with assigned system related vendors and other groups within Ameren Company. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. Energy Center experience preferred. Distributed control system and/or programmable logic control experience will be considered a plus for potential job candidates. *Technical career path level depends upon applicant's credentials. In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Good analytical, human relations, written and oral communication skills, and computer experience required. Ability to work overtime and take off-hour call-outs as necessary in order to support Energy Center operations is required. Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Support Provide advanced engineering support for plant operations and maintenance, focusing on mechanical, and/or structural/civil aspects and systems. Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned plant systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance. Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and technical staff. Project Management & Budgeting Lead planning, design, and execution of complex capital and maintenance projects from concept through closeout. Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules, ensuring alignment with plant and divisional goals. Administer engineering contracts, review technical deliverables, and oversee contractor performance. Provide engineering input to the Long Range Financial Plan (LRFP) and annual budgeting process. Operational Optimization & Reliability Monitor equipment condition, performance, and reliability to identify trends and develop corrective actions. Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of major equipment failures or operational issues. Compliance, Safety, and Standards Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards, including ASME Section I, B31.1, ASCE codes, OSHA, and AECI safety policies. Promote and model safe work practices throughout all engineering and plant activities. Maintain awareness of technological advancements, regulatory changes, and industry best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with operations, maintenance, environmental, procurement, and other plant departments to address engineering and reliability challenges. Communicate technical and project information effectively to management and other stakeholders. Represent the engineering function in plant meetings and cross-departmental initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (or equivalent technical degree with relevant experience). Minimum six (6) years of professional engineering experience in power generation or heavy industrial settings. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design, plant systems, and project management principles. Familiarity with ASME, ASCE, and OSHA standards relevant to plant operations. Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering analysis tools; strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to recognize and address emerging plant issues through proactive engineering analysis and data-driven problem-solving. What you'll be up to: * Perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of general, specialized and/or high-tech medical equipment and systems. * Demonstrate a working knowledge and use of required test equipment and electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and skills. * Interpret and effectively utilize service manuals, schematics and other applicable service information required to perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment and systems, as assigned, in accordance with established SOPs (standard operating procedures). * May occasionally work on non-medical devices such as Rapiscan, Gatekeeper, Evolv. Higi, etc. * Independently perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on designated modality, while working within the established procedures. * Independently perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on designated modality, while working within the established procedures. * Demonstrate proper methods and techniques of installation, calibration, preventative maintenance and repair troubleshooting. * Read and comprehend prints and schematics; repair and calibrate according to company procedures and specifications. * Effectively triage work orders and establish priority to meet contractual commitments * Maintain spare part stock independently. * Operate PC hardware and Microsoft based software. * Interact and communicate with internal and external customers. * Instruct customers and staff in applications and operations of the equipment. * Submit timely and accurately; service reports, time sheets, expense reports, and other paperwork as assigned. * Maintain the daily back-order report, cycle count and shipping needs of the facility. Other projects as assigned. * Ability to be a self-starter and manage your own work to meet the needs of our customers * Flexible for occasional nationwide overnight and weekend travel. * Demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level knowledge and use of required test equipment and electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and skills. * Train others on operational functions of biomedical equipment and provide mentoring to BMEE I * Additional relevant responsibilities as issued by manager.
