We are looking for dependable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer you will be responsible for the unloading, inspecting, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner. They will receive materials in production workplace and verify components with the use of visual aids, Finished Part Documents and Placemats. The Kit Production Worker will watch for quality defects and report promptly any materials thought to be defective to management. The Kit Production Worker will attend informational, training, safety, and compliance meetings as scheduled. * Follow written instructions on work order, finished part document, visual aids and placemats for various products. * Safe use and daily inspection of material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks (hand and electric) * Inspect raw material needed for producing product, set-up production line, and produce sample for quality inspection. * Upon inspection approval, produce product, label, pack, and load grouped orders onto pallets. * Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. * Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations. * Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required. * Complete tasks as directed by production schedules with minimum supervision. * Utilize all material handling equipment safely, efficiently, perform all required safety checks and communicate need for repair * Accept schedule and direction when there are changes in workloads. * Perform other duties as required. * Attend monthly departmental and production meetings. Changed burned out transformers in special cases with the aid of other Troublemen. Make load tests on transformers. Install or read watt-hour and maximum demand meters. Wind, set or change time clocks, and read check meters on poles. Write requisitions and reports on all work done. In some geographical groups perform blocking and releasing of regulators, and switching operations in Company distribution and transmission substations, turn off or turn on gas service. Operate inhalator in accident cases. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: For quick response to customers' calls and for locating trouble and restoring service as quickly as possible. For careful use and custody of trouble car, stock of tools, materials. For properly accounting for small amounts of money collected on non-pay orders. For observing safety rules and traffic laws to insure public safety while on streets, highways, and customer premises. For making prompt decisions on own initiative. For exercising care in clearing or guarding fallen high voltage wires, to insure public safety. The Walk Laborer works with a team to keep high foot-traffic areas on the airfield safe and clear of ice/snow to allow continued airport operations. This includes keeping airport sidewalks and gate areas sage and clear of snow and ice. They will perform tasks that involve manual labor related to snow removal, such as shoveling, using a snowblower and spreading snow-melting chemicals. This work will be performed outdoors in winter weather and requires steady effort, dependability and communications with supervisors and crews. Rest breaks, snacks and warming opportunities during shifts will be provided.
