    United Democracy Project is hiring a Research Associate for the 2026 election cycle. Length of Employment: now through December 31, 2026. The position would work with our multi-member team, conducting research on Members of Congress and candidates running for the House and Senate. Responsibilities: ● Conducting research on congressional candidates in races across the country using a variety of web-based applications ● Searching social media and web-based sites for news and background information on candidates ● Producing research memos for internal staff and outside consultant consumption ● Participating in campaign strategy and poll drafting meetings ● Producing daily political clips ● Other duties as assigned Requirements: ● Bachelor's degree preferred ● Minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience ● Excellent organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail ● Experience managing multiple processes and deadlines simultaneously ● Strong verbal and written communication skills ● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that requires flexibility as needs and priorities change ● Experience with MS Excel, MS Word and outlook preferred ● Familiarity with Lexis-Nexis and social media platforms a plus ● Commitment to a strong US-Israel relationship a must AIPAC is offering a competitive market base salary between $52,000.00 and $60,000.00 for the position. A job offer within the range will depend on how closely a candidate's skills and experience match the role's requirements. AIPAC also offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package that contributes to employees' overall total compensation package. Reporting to the Vice President for Tax Policy, the researcher will work with a talented group of colleagues spanning a variety of projects and disciplines across the Urban Institute. What You'll Do The successful candidate will work on projects analyzing the revenue and distributional consequences of tax policies, primarily at the federal level. They will also support the development of tax and transfer microsimulation models within TPC and TIS and supervise analyses using these models. This work will include: * Conceptualizing and developing new research projects and initiatives that are creative, address public policy needs and meet high standards of methodological rigor * Directing new or ongoing projects and initiatives, including being responsible for research quality, finances, timeline, staffing and managing staff, and meeting funder goals * Leading efforts to fundraise for new research and initiatives as well as support efforts of other staff * Establishing or continuing relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including local, state, and federal policymakers, business leaders, media, academia, nonprofits, and advocates * Leading and collaborating on reporting research findings, including written products, creative data presentation, briefings, and presentations at meetings and conferences * Communicating effectively with multiple research teams, senior and early career staff members from diverse backgrounds, and external stakeholders * Supervising and mentoring other research staff, to help nurture talent and grow productive, motivated, and fulfilled colleagues What You'll Bring * The knowledge and skills associated with a PhD in economics or a related field. Senior executive or legislative branch government experience also highly encouraged * 10 plus years of prior experience in related research areas * Significant experience in conceptualizing and executing policy-relevant research on tax policy and administration * Deep methodological rigor, preferably including knowledge of microsimulation and advanced statistical methods * Ability to interpret rigorous academic studies and put them in a policy context * Substantial experience managing large scale, philanthropically funded research projects * A proven track record of developing, funding, and implementing relevant research projects or initiatives * Active engagement in real-time economic policy debates What You'll Experience: No matter your role with Urban, you will contribute to meaningful work that makes a difference for people and communities across the country. The flagship of Freedom House's Technology and Democracy initiative is Freedom on the Net , which featured in 745 media outlets spanning 99 countries during its 2019 release. Position Summary The Research Associate will join a small, supportive, and dynamic team working to assess human rights in the digital age. The position will play a key role in producing Freedom on the Net , our annual internet freedom study encompassing issues such as censorship, disinformation, and surveillance. Responsibilities will range from analyzing the impact of complex regulatory proposals on free expression and privacy, supporting project management and logistics, and liaising with a dispersed network of local internet freedom researchers. This is a full-time position based in New York City, reporting to the Research Director for Technology and Democracy. Key Responsibilities Strengthen regional and thematic expertise within Freedom House, contribute analysis to Freedom on the Net and other written products, and provide substantive input at internal and external meetings Perform substantive fact-checking, editing, rewriting, and proofreading of reports on internet freedom, many authored by non-native English speakers. In the process of editing, supplement the reports with own research Assist appropriate team members in designing and facilitating Freedom on the Net project plans, goals, and timelines, as well as developing methods to track and evaluate project processes Develop a network of regional and thematic experts to serve as new contributors, and act as a primary point of contact with external consultants based around the world Prepare travel and event logistics for in-person review meetings, including booking flights and accommodation for participants, coordinating with venues, and other tasks Where funding permits, travel internationally to coordinate meetings with local researchers and attend relevant conferences to represent FH research Draft talking points for senior staff and conduct media interviews as needed Analyze data and prepare charts, graphics, and other support materials for publication Assist with funding proposals, donor reports, and monitoring and evaluation of the project's impact Ensure consultant contracts, payment requests, business expense reports, and other financial documents are in line with Freedom House requirements Perform other related duties as assigned
