American Career College was incorporated in California on January 11, 1978.
American Career College was founded by David Pyle in 1978 under the name of American College of Optics.
In 1985, the college moved to Wilshire Boulevard, and four years later relocated to its present facility at 4021 Rosewood Avenue in Los Angeles, California.
On September 1, 1989, the College relocated to its present facility at 4021 Rosewood Avenue in Los Angeles, California.
In September 1990, the college expanded its curricula to include the Pharmacy Technician Program, and changed its name to American College of Optechs.
To better reflect its increasingly comprehensive curricula and expanding educational mission, the college permanently changed its name to American Career College in 1993.
The school remained a little-known entity running classes from its locations in downtown Los Angeles at 4021 Rosewood Avenue and [Anaheim] at 1200 North Magnolia Avenue until the approval of the vocational nursing program in 1994.
In November 2000, the Orange County campus opened as a branch of the Los Angeles campus.
In February of 2005, the founder of American Career College formed a new company, Ontario Health Education Company, Inc. and purchased Atlantis Medical College in Norco, California.
In June of 2008, the Norco campus moved to its current facility in Ontario, California.
In 2008, American Career College expanded its level of offerings to include Associate of Occupational Science degree programs in various allied health disciplines.
In the fall of 2008, American Career College opened a new campus in Ontario at 3130 East Sedona Court which held classes for both American Career College as well as West Coast University.
In 2017, the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program celebrated their first graduating class!
