**Job Summary**
As a Molecular Biologist II, you will be joining a dynamic team performing cutting-edge research across multiple biological disciplines. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise and experience to execute and lead experiments in the omics laboratory, extracting nucleic acids and proteins from complex matrices and performing downstream purification, processing, and analysis. Operating in a collaborative environment, you will provide support to laboratory and literature-based studies and will help to mentor and train other staff members. This full-time position will be located in Columbus, Ohio.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform targeted literature reviews, applying experience and judgment to:
+ Select and adapt technical approaches/solutions for complex assignments with minimal oversight.
+ Develop new/novel assays independently or with minimal guidance.
+ Independently troubleshoot experiments.
+ Identify gaps in the current state-of-the-art
+ Support literature reviews and technical feasibility assessments.
+ Apply experience of molecular biology, cell biology, and microbiology to design and execute laboratory experiments independently and with small teams of laboratory staff to:
+ Adapt and develop methods to conduct DNA, RNA, and/or protein isolation, purification, and quantification.
+ Perform PCR amplification, standard and complex DNA and RNA sequencing methods, including: amplicon sequencing, whole genome sequencing, exome sequencing, transcriptomics, methylation sequencing, metagenomics and multiome sequencing, etc.
+ Work independently to meet study objectives and deliverables with guidance from senior scientists.
+ Mentor laboratory personnel.
+ Analyze and interpret experimental data and assist in the preparation of technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
+ Participate in identification of business opportunities and development of proposals, white papers, and marketing plans.
+ Follow established safety guidelines to safely work with hazardous/infectious (RG2) materials.
Some domestic travel is possible but not anticipated.
**Key Qualifications**
+ PhD or MS and >2 years or BS and >5 years of experience in a relevant biological discipline.
+ Foundational knowledge and interest in molecular biology, sequencing applications, and adjacent fields.
+ Hands-on experience with nucleic acid and protein extraction, purification, and analysis.
+ Ability to adapt and implement published experiments and protocols to advance project objectives.
+ Proven ability to conduct experiments according to standard operating procedures.
+ Proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to achieving quality results on schedule.
+ Good oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work in a team environment and train less experienced staff.
+ U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment.
+ Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 50 pounds, and work in the proximity of hazardous/infectious materials.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO17025, GLP).

The Tax Policy Center, housed within the Tax & Income Supports Division (TIS) seeks an expert researcher who will contribute to and expand Urban's research and policy analysis on individual and corporate, tax modeling, and tax administration. Reporting to the Vice President for Tax Policy, the researcher will work with a talented group of colleagues spanning a variety of projects and disciplines across the Urban Institute.
What You'll Do
The successful candidate will work on projects analyzing the revenue and distributional consequences of tax policies, primarily at the federal level. They will also support the development of tax and transfer microsimulation models within TPC and TIS and supervise analyses using these models. This work will include:

**Job Summary**
We are currently seeking a Lead Toxicologist - Environmental Scientist III for our Health Research and Analytics group. This position will be primarily **telework/remote** , but candidates should be within commuting distance either the EPA offices in Washington, DC or the NIEHS offices in Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC.

ISW is seeking a full-time ArcGIS Geospatial Researcher to support ISW's conflict mapping program and geospatial analysis of ongoing conflicts and national security threats. ISW's recent maps of Russian military operations in Ukraine have reached millions of people and have been featured in prestigious print and broadcasting media and are used by government, military, and humanitarian organizations. ISW also conducts geospatial analysis within its other portfolios, including the Middle East and China.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct expert geospatial analysis on dynamic conflicts by synthesizing multiple open-source information on political and security developments.
Compiles, manipulates, and analyzes geospatial data.
Develop proficiency in data-driven analytic software platforms, particularly ArcGIS, to support investigations through geospatial analysis and mapping.
Utilize ISW's partnerships with satellite imagery and remote sensing companies to enhance research capabilities.
Provide research support for long-term projects and forecasts, collaborating with team members as required.
Mentor and manage interns, fostering their professional growth within the field.
Provides GIS training to other personnel.
Assist in editing and producing intelligence products to uphold institutional standards.

Required education and experience:

The applicant must have the ability to refine requirements and to determine, with other analysts, the best technology for a job.

The applicant must be able to independently develop and manage proprietary datasets.
Skills in raster analysis and satellite imagery analysis are required.

**Key Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in related field with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree in related field with 2 years of experience; or PhD in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field
+ Strong understanding in reading assembly language and using debugging tools
+ Experience with a disassembler for vulnerability research (Ghidra, IDA Pro, BinaryNinja)
+ Experience with one or more assembly languages (x86, x64, ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, etc.)
+ Experience with one or more debuggers (WinDbg, OllyDbg, gdb)
+ Experience with vulnerability research on one or more operating systems: Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, MacOS, VxWorks, QNX, RTOSs, or other custom operating systems
+ Knowledge of advanced exploitation techniques (ret2libc,use-after-free,type confusion)
+ Knowledge of exploit protection techniques (DEP, ASLR/NX)
+ Ability to code in C and/or Python
+ Ability to work individually and in small fast paced team environments
+ Passion and drive to constantly need to improve your skill set
+ Must Be a US Citizen with the ability and willingness to obtain a DoD Secret or higher clearance

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) is seeking a Russia Researcher.
About ISW:
As the world continues to witness the devastating impact of armed conflict, the need for objective, real-time, unbiased analysis has never been greater. When decision-makers need information-from policymakers to humanitarian aid organizations to military leaders on the ground-time and time again, they turn to the Institute for the Study of War.
ISW has a unique, dual mission: to provide real-time intelligence to help leaders make informed decisions in conflict zones around the world and educate the next generation of national security leaders. This work is carried out through the General Jack Keane Center for National Security and the General David H. Petraeus Center for Emerging Leaders.
Position Summary:
ISW promotes an understanding of war and conflict by providing data and critical analysis to key American political and military leaders. In addition, ISW seeks to educate civilians about war and conflict, thus bridging the gaps between military and civilian decision-makers. ISW aims to improve how the United States formulates and executes its national security policy. ISW is vigilant at monitoring crises around the world and has a track record of accurately predicting potential and actual conflicts. ISW provides a proven platform for emerging researchers and analysts to launch their careers in an innovative and highly relevant project.
ISW seeks a full-time Researcher to conduct research within ISW's Russia Portfolio to provide timely and exceptional open-source analysis of the geo-strategic dynamics of Russian domestic and foreign policy and how those dynamics will affect U.S. national security interests. ISW seeks a talented and self-motivated Researcher with expertise in Russia-linked conflicts and the drivers of Russian foreign policy. The Researcher will publish his or her insights to help identify the risks and opportunities in different policy approaches to the Russia challenge for U.S. policy-makers and practitioners. The candidate must be passionate about conducting detail-oriented research on emergent events and demonstrate the ability to manage and mentor a team of research interns supporting the project.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide expert analysis on dynamic conflicts within the Russia portfolio by synthesizing open-source information on political and security developments.
Capture and analyze granular information on these developments, including implications of regional dynamics.
Work closely with teams studying China, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Al-Qaeda, Turkey, and ISIS to generate insights into regional and cross-border trends.
Aim to keep policymakers informed about ground situations, inflection points, developments affecting US interests, and potential policy options.
Gain proficiency in data-driven analytic software platforms to support investigations into complex research questions.
Publish findings through timely written and graphical reports and oral briefings.
Provide synthetic research support to long-term projects and forecasts to team members and programs as required.
Coach, mentor, and manage research interns and collaborate with team members.
Help edit and oversee daily and short-form written intelligence products to ensure adherence to institutional writing standards.
Validate compliance with proper data-handling and storage guidelines.
Required education and experience:
A bachelor's degree in a field of study related to the ISW's core mission and research agenda, a master's degree is preferred;
Professional working proficiency in Russian (minimum 2 years of study). Knowledge of Ukrainian, Mandarin, Turkish, or any languages spoken in the former Soviet Union is a plus;
Demonstrated ability to structure confident analytical arguments with the resilience to collaborate on organizational standards is required;
Strong understanding of Russian political dynamics and military operations, either in an operational context or through research or coursework. A sophisticated understanding of military institutions and military history is a plus;
Exceptional writing skills, proven independent research skills, good initiative, and the ability to collaborate on research projects. Experience writing for a policy audience is a plus;
Eager for professional development in briefing and presentation skills including experience conveying information to senior-level decision-makers and developing public speaking and briefing skills;
Excellent qualitative and analytic skills, and the ability to represent material graphically in team-oriented settings. Some familiarity with quantitative methods, comfort with integrating technology into research, and knowledge of using ArcGIS a plus;
The dedication and drive to produce policy-relevant research in a timely manner;
Passionate curiosity for ISW's research agenda and mission.
