**Job Summary**
Battelle is currently seeking an aspiring **Senior** **Vulnerability Researcher** to work in our **Columbus, OH** location.

As a **Senior Vulnerability Researcher** , you will work with disassemblers and debuggers to quickly understand how embedded devices operate. You will use and build tools that push past the edge of current tools and techniques. In a given day you will research and debug an embedded device while getting the chance to bounce ideas off of a close-knit team of researchers. We have the tools and the mentors you will need to take yourself to the next level and who are eager to learn from your experience.

**Key Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study with 8 years of experience; Master's degree in related field with 5 years of experience; PhD in a related field with 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Develop software to run in user-mode or kernel-mode
+ Strong understanding in reading assembly language and using debugging tools
+ Experience with a disassembler for vulnerability research (Ghidra, IDA Pro, BinaryNinja)
+ Experience with one or more assembly languages (x86, x64, ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, etc.)
+ Experience with one or more debuggers (WinDbg, OllyDbg, gdb)
+ Experience with vulnerability research on one or more operating systems: Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, MacOS, VxWorks, QNX, RTOSs, or other custom operating systems
+ Knowledge of advanced exploitation techniques (ret2libc,use-after-free,type confusion)
+ Knowledge of exploit protection techniques (DEP, ASLR/NX)
+ Ability to code in C

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
As a Senior Fellow, Residential Market Transformation you'll have the opportunity to accelerate market transformation in the residential sector-single-family, multifamily (incl. affordable and mixed-income), and deep retrofit programs. The Fellow will shape and activate a holistic impact strategy that leverages USGBC's products, policy voice, convening power, standard setting, educational platform, and thought leadership to enable faster, greener, and more affordable housing delivery that helps meet supply needs while advancing leading sustainability, health, and resilience standards.
The Fellow will operate as a senior, cross-functional strategist and external champion, translating market needs into actionable initiatives, partnerships, and measurable outcomes. Core objectives include cutting time and cost to deliver high-performance, affordable homes while improving outcomes in energy, carbon, resilience, health, and equity; scaling adoption of LEED and complementary residential standards; and mobilizing coalitions across developers, public sector, finance, utilities, manufacturers, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
Develop a residential impact strategy and theory of change that identifies highest-leverage interventions across organization's spheres of influence including, standard setting, advocacy, product development, membership activation, education, convening, and research.
Deliverable: 36-Month Residential Impact Strategy & Theory of Change document with prioritized interventions across USGBC functions.
Research and articulate pathways for residential construction and renovations that combine speed, scale cost-effectiveness, and performance (e.g., energy efficiency, low carbon, resiliency, health, etc.).
Deliverable: Market Pathways Report outlining scalable, cost-effective models for sustainable residential construction and renovation.
Identify and analyze new priority residential markets where USGBC could drive market transformation through our products.
Deliverable: Residential Market Opportunity Analysis identifying 3-5 priority geographies or market segments for USGBC engagement.
Define clear KPIs and an impact measurement framework covering units influenced, cost effectiveness, and sustainability performance (e.g. energy/carbon, health, and resilience outcomes).

Products and Standards
Recommend enhancements to USGBC's residential offerings (e.g., LEED Residential offerings) to improve value to customer, demonstrate market responsiveness, grow uptake, and increase impact.
Propose pilot credits/alternatives for priority outcomes (industrialized construction, grid-interactive efficient buildings, electrification/heat pumps, embodied carbon, resilience, healthy materials) and alignment with key programs (e.g., ENERGY STAR, DOE Zero Energy Ready Home).
Identify digital tools, data integrations, and templates that cut transaction costs for project teams and verifiers.
Deliverable: Residential Portfolio Enhancement Plan with recommendations to strengthen LEED and related offerings for adoption and impact.
Advance pipelines for deep energy retrofits in multifamily and single family in priority geographies.

Policy and Advocacy
Work with Advocacy and Policy team to produce a residential policy roadmap spanning local, state, and federal levers and identify priority policy opportunities to dedicate resources.

Partnerships
Map ecosystem of efforts and organizations at the intersection of housing supply and sustainability and identify gaps where USGBC is well positioned to contribute.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
15+ years in the residential high-performance space, including development, housing finance, building programs, or market transformation.
Demonstrated delivery of high-performance or affordable housing at scale.
Expertise with residential green standards (LEED Residential, ENERGY STAR, DOE ZERH, etc.) and modern energy codes.
Policy fluency across local/state housing policy, permitting, incentives, and finance mechanisms.
Strong coalition-building and stakeholder facilitation experience.
Quantitative capability and strong communication skills.
Commitment to equity, health, and community-centered approaches; willingness to travel.
Industrialized construction, modular/manufactured housing, embodied carbon (preferred).
Mobilizing philanthropy and public-private partnerships (preferred).
Education
Advanced degree in real estate, urban planning, architecture/engineering, public policy, or related field.
Skills/Technology
Familiarity with data tools and digital workflows for certification and compliance.

LOGISTICS
Location: This position is remote in the U.S. or hybrid if you reside near our Washington, D.C. Headquarters.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM in the candidate's time zone. This is a 1-year contract
Travel: 10%
Contract Status: This position is a one-year contract engagement and not a full-time employee role. The selected individual will join USGBC as a contractor/consultant and will be required to sign a consulting agreement prior to starting. Battelle's Cyber Trust and Analytics division is seeking an Experimental Quantum Scientist/Researcher to work in our Columbus, Ohio location.

ISW seeks a full-time Researcher to conduct research within ISW's Russia Portfolio to provide timely and exceptional open-source analysis of the geo-strategic dynamics of Russian domestic and foreign policy and how those dynamics will affect U.S. national security interests. ISW seeks a talented and self-motivated Researcher with expertise in Russia-linked conflicts and the drivers of Russian foreign policy. The Researcher will publish his or her insights to help identify the risks and opportunities in different policy approaches to the Russia challenge for U.S. policy-makers and practitioners. The candidate must be passionate about conducting detail-oriented research on emergent events and demonstrate the ability to manage and mentor a team of research interns supporting the project.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide expert analysis on dynamic conflicts within the Russia portfolio by synthesizing open-source information on political and security developments.
Capture and analyze granular information on these developments, including implications of regional dynamics.
Work closely with teams studying China, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Al-Qaeda, Turkey, and ISIS to generate insights into regional and cross-border trends.
Aim to keep policymakers informed about ground situations, inflection points, developments affecting US interests, and potential policy options.
Gain proficiency in data-driven analytic software platforms to support investigations into complex research questions.
Publish findings through timely written and graphical reports and oral briefings.
Provide synthetic research support to long-term projects and forecasts to team members and programs as required.
Coach, mentor, and manage research interns and collaborate with team members.
Help edit and oversee daily and short-form written intelligence products to ensure adherence to institutional writing standards.

Required education and experience:
A bachelor's degree in a field of study related to the ISW's core mission and research agenda, a master's degree is preferred;
Professional working proficiency in Russian (minimum 2 years of study). Knowledge of Ukrainian, Mandarin, Turkish, or any languages spoken in the former Soviet Union is a plus;
Demonstrated ability to structure confident analytical arguments with the resilience to collaborate on organizational standards is required;
Strong understanding of Russian political dynamics and military operations, either in an operational context or through research or coursework. A sophisticated understanding of military institutions and military history is a plus;
Exceptional writing skills, proven independent research skills, good initiative, and the ability to collaborate on research projects. Experience writing for a policy audience is a plus;

The Tax Policy Center, housed within the Tax & Income Supports Division (TIS) seeks an expert researcher who will contribute to and expand Urban's research and policy analysis on individual and corporate, tax modeling, and tax administration. Reporting to the Vice President for Tax Policy, the researcher will work with a talented group of colleagues spanning a variety of projects and disciplines across the Urban Institute.
What You'll Do
The successful candidate will work on projects analyzing the revenue and distributional consequences of tax policies, primarily at the federal level. They will also support the development of tax and transfer microsimulation models within TPC and TIS and supervise analyses using these models. This work will include:

ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are pleased to invite applications for 2 post-doctoral Research Fellows in Public Philosophy positions. The term of the position is initially September 2026-August 2027, with potential for renewal for a second year based on candidate performance.
The positions are designed as rigorous fellowship experiences to develop both the candidate s aptitudes in public writing and to develop the field of public philosophy at the highest levels of national discourse. As a foundation for the position, candidates are expected to have doctoral or equivalent level training in political philosophy, political theory or related disciplines.
Our institutional goal is to raise the profile of public philosophy in the United States and across the world and to develop new infrastructure at the intersection of academia and public discourse that can engage robustly on both sides.
Our ideal candidates will possess a rigorous understanding of philosophical concepts, and a capacity to apply them to pressing societal issues. The role demands a blend of creativity, independence, vision setting, leadership, effective project management, attention to editorial detail, and intellectual ambition.
The Research Fellows will report to the Director, Philosophy and Society. The salary range for the Research Fellow position is $67,000 - $72,000. Selected candidates will be expected to be located in Washington DC from September to June each year, and in the office a minimum of 3 days a week to participate in our on-site public philosophy research group.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Among other expectations and activities, the position will include:
Intensive training modules and mentoring in public writing and argument.
Primary emphasis will be on a weekly rhythm of engagement with public argument in which selected candidates will be expected to produce targeted arguments directly engaged in the news-cycle both long and short form with the goal of publishing in both in-house and national media. Specific quota of written and other media outputs (usually 2+ per month) are expected and a tailored output plan will be developed with each candidate at the start of the fellowship.
Research fellowship will usually include opportunities to collaborate with the Civic Thought Initiative at Yale University, including an in-person residency. Scholars will have a chance to interact with students and scholars in fields related to their interests and to participate in salon-style discussions on campus."

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE
A PhD in Philosophy or a related field. In exceptional cases we are open to intellectual journalists who have a strong record of genuine intellectual engagement and national level publication.
Demonstrated intellectual interest in primary pressing philosophical issues facing society. We are also particularly interested in individuals who have aptitude in philosophical anthropology. Questions of humanism and transhumanism, society and technology, virtue and ways of life, eudaimonia and societal purpose are all of specific interest.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
At base we expect candidates to have strong academic records both in research and publication. Experience in public writing about ideas and in engaging with media and social media is also welcome.
