Chad Abraham serves as the chief executive officer of Piper Jaffray and is a member of the firm's board of directors. Abraham joined the firm in 1991 as an investment banking analyst. Pros of working at American Family Insurance

I thought the pay and benefits were solid for the workload. Many individuals were also great to work with.

Cons of working at American Family Insurance

Leaders lacked vision and would leave groups in the lurch for months and months without direction. There was also pretty much no accountability for poor performance and innovation was really theater and not something leaders leaned into.

401k, pension, and healthcare were all pretty good.

They showed genuine interest in social causes.

Everything is so beaurocratic and hierarchical that things move very slowly. There needs to be more empowerment and comfort taking measured risks.

Prepared answers to common questions of accomplishments, dealing with challenges, etc.

I think my compensation was likely in line with the industry for my role.
