Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Graphics Illustrator to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will be responsible for recreating media, such as microfiche, microfilm, and documents, that cannot be successfully converted through scanning technology. This role requires strong artistic and technical skills to accurately reproduce content in digital formats, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Recreate media (e.g., microfiche, microfilm, and documents) that are damaged, degraded, or incompatible with scanning technology into high-quality digital formats.
Use graphic design and illustration software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools) to manually reconstruct text, images, and layouts.
Ensure accuracy and fidelity in reproducing content, maintaining the original intent and details of the source material.
Collaborate with the document conversion team to identify media requiring manual recreation and prioritize tasks.
Perform quality checks to ensure recreated media meets client specifications and archival standards.
Organize and catalog digital files for efficient retrieval and secure storage.
Adhere to security protocols and maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials.
Document processes and maintain records of recreated media for project tracking and reporting.
Stay updated on industry-standard graphic design tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately replicate complex text, images, and layouts.
Excellent visual and artistic skills, with a keen eye for typography, color, and composition.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (required).
Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet project deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with archival or document recreation projects is a plus but not required.
Basic understanding of document conversion processes (e.g., microfiche, microfilm scanning) is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on digital design tasks.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precise graphic work.
Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
