Since 1986, American Hydro has offered custom hydropower solutions and turbine services to North America, Europe, Latin America and select locations throughout the world.
In 2000, a landmark report published by the World Commission on Dams (WCD) challenged existing practices and initiated a change in the planning and development of hydropower towards a focus on sustainability and affected communities.
Nicknamed the “Quiet Giant,” this Bath County, Virginia, plant holds first place as the world’s largest pumped storage plant for 20 years, and regains its position at the top of the list after a refurbishment of its six turbines in 2009.
