The Underwriting Quality Assurance Manager will report to the Head of Underwriting for A&H North America and work closely with the A&H Program Manager as well as other department and team leads. In this role, you will be responsible for the integrity of the underwriting practice, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to company underwriting policies and regulations.

* Ensure all UW Guidelines, Manuals and SOPs are current and centrally located.
* Ensure that any updates in the underwriting rules, forms and/or rates are documented and get communicated to appropriate parties and systems
* Act as underwriting audit lead, working directly with A&H audit team and IAD.
* Analyze data to identify trends and risks, developing corrective action plans as needed, reporting findings to leadership, and collaborating with underwriters to improve processes and training.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance standards, policies, and procedures.
* Serve as liaison between UW management and UW Governance to ensure all underwriting authority statements are properly registered and up-to-date.
* Provide oversight of Business Case and Product Development.
* Ad hoc Project Management for Program Manager, Head of Underwriting and Head of A&H North America.
* Be a strong Partner to Regional UW Managers, Underwriters & Sales.
* Ensure accuracy and maintenance of UW resources on Share Point / NERD.
* Provide expert level guidance to operational problems and develop strategic and actionable solutions.
* Formulate and recommend corrective action plans and process improvements to address identified issues.
* Collaborate with underwriters to provide or escalate need for training, share insights, and improve overall underwriting quality and consistency.
* Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting underwriting.
* Assist Program Manager in creation and maintenance of underwriting guidelines and best practices for Programs.
* Create and execute reporting & communication strategies to educate and inform key constituents about activities and accomplishments.
* Ensure regulatory compliance by working closely with legal counsel and product compliance.

The Role

Key Responsibilities
Implement national recruiting strategy. Recruit high quality experienced advisors to your branch. Actively generate leads into local area pipeline and manage the end-to-end candidate experience. Develop branch's unique value proposition and articulate to candidates. Execute on onboarding and ramp-up plans that drives growth.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent

What Is the Opportunity?
Bond & Specialty Insurance provides management and professional liability insurance, as well as surety bonds to businesses and non-profit organizations of all sizes. As an underwriter, you will have a dynamic role that blends evaluating and analyzing financial and business risk, building relationships, and selling and negotiating with clients, agents, and brokers.
This role is part of the Construction Services team which provides surety bonds to public and private owners of construction projects. Underwriters also analyze business operations, financial statements and evaluate market forces to provide consultative services to contractors.
The Account Executive Officer (AEO) will partner with agents and brokers to provide insurance or surety solutions to customers. An AEO will analyze and evaluate risk to achieve business goals within an assigned book of business. This role is seen as a technical resource.
As an AEO, you are decisive, detail-oriented, and know how to build relationships internally and externally and negotiate terms to drive results. Your ability to independently assess complex risk, negotiate terms, and sell our products in challenging markets will contribute to the profitability and success of Travelers.

* Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business primarily comprised of moderately to highly complex accounts.

How you will create an impact
The purpose of the Underwriting Quality Manager for Commercial Casualty and Programs is to determine adherence to the AIG Underwriting Control Framework. This includes adherence to the underwriting authority, underwriting guidelines, procedures and rules, AIG Corporate, AIG CUO or Product Specific standards and policies as they relate to the Commercial Casualty and Programs across all legal entities. Review underwriting quality, pricing compliance, portfolio management utilization, management controls and provide senior management with commentary on the overall underwriting, go-forward critical profitable growth plans and improved control on the legacy book and financial health of the entity being reviewed. Leverage underwriting audits for capability assessments of operations in light of Product strategic business plans.
* The Underwriting Quality Manager will perform these tasks per their specific areas of expertise, but will also gain exposure to other lines of business.
* The Underwriting Quality Manager will also provide support to the Global Head of Underwriting Audit with local industry knowledge and support training initiatives.
* In addition, the Underwriting Quality Manager will support the Global Product team on project initiatives from time to time.
* Conduct audits annually across all legal entities/portfolios. Undertake pre-audit work, use audit tools, discuss grade and findings in wrap-up meetings; review critical findings and recommendations with Audited Entity, Country, Regional and Global Product teams; prepare reports; vet action plans.
What you'll need to succeed
* 10+ years industry experience with a P&C carrier of significant market size. Management positions in underwriting with P&L responsibility is strongly preferable. Audit or Actuarial experience a strong plus.
* 5+ years' experience with a P&C carrier within the Product organization. Proven experience in underwriting a full range of products, placing facultative reinsurance, effective demonstration of management controls and utilization of portfolio management tools, and working with diverse distribution channels are preferable.
* Working experience in multiple regions/countries is a strong plus.
* Ability to provide direction and convey strategy of Global Home Office, Underwriting Audit and Underwriting Governance to Regional and Country staff.
* Excellent knowledge of product line underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, tools, processes, management controls and pricing methodologies, including the ability to train this knowledge to others.
* Working knowledge of regulator requirements.
* Working knowledge of the actuarial function (e.g. reserving, DAC accounting, development of experience and statistical rating - aka rate reviews) and the business analytics area.

For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $96,000-$113,000. For positions based in Chicago, the base salary range is $104,000-$114,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee team Support Professionals to ensure alignment on team priorities and business goals
Serve as a coordinator for business matters related to the team, ensuring that they are directed to the appropriate contact, addressed properly, efficiently and judiciously, and track progress until resolved

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:

10+ years of work experience in a field relevant to the position required
Advanced degree or professional certification or prior industry experience required
Active Series 7 (GS) and Series 66 (AG/RA) or Series 63 (AG) and Series 65 (RA) required
