The AIG Facultative Desk, Latin America underwrites a diversified facultative reinsurance portfolio in Property, Energy, Casualty, Financial Lines, Marine, and Political Violence. Depending on our clients' needs, the Desk can deploy capacity on behalf of AIG and Talbot Lloyds Syndicate 1183 to reinsurance brokers and insurance companies across Latin America.
The Facultative Political Violence Senior Underwriter will collaborate with the Regional Product Leader and other underwriters to target and capture desirable accounts from the most appropriate entry point for the growth and profitability of the portfolio. This position is based in Miami, FL and reports into the Regional Political Violence Product Leader of LAC Facultative Desk.
How you will create an impact
The Senior Underwriter - Political Violence and Cyber White Label will be responsible for supporting the Facultative Desk Product Leader in setting the regional underwriting strategy and the day-to-day underwriting, and management of the LATAM Political Violence and Cyber White Label portfolio written through the Miami FAC Desk including but not limited to:
* Carry out the underwriting process of the risks received through the different distribution channels according to the in line corporate guidelines and the Profit Center.
* Support in the generation of key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels, effectiveness ratios, analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others
* Collaborate in the development of business strategies, development of new products, preparation of budgets
* Support in the preparation of commercial presentations, newsletters, marketing material and other initiatives for marketing and distribution.
* Interact with different areas of the Company such as Claims, Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, Finance, and Accounting among others for the proper development of the operations of the Division.
* Interact and meet the requirements of our clients and intermediaries.
* Drive underwriting excellence across the business by ensuring adherence to risk appetite, underwriting and line setting guidelines, technical rating, and pricing adequacy.
* Supports Product Leader driving development and execution of the AIG / Talbot underwriting strategy global underwriting guidelines and strategy. This includes monitoring portfolio performance, aggregate exposures, loss ratios, and P&L.
* Serve as the Center of Excellence for all AIG local offices, collaborate with territory Managers and underwriters to target desirable accounts and identify cross selling opportunities.
* Prepare key performance indicators including but not limited to monitoring of submission flow by distribution channels and analysis of losses/ claims behaviors, among others.
* Support in the preparation of presentations to both internal and external stakeholders as the business requires.
* Maintain updated underwriting files based on corporate guidelines.
* Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained for the division.

* College or university degree in areas of Business Administration, Political Science, Finance or Legal
* Reinsurance courses or certifications are desirable.
* A minimum of 5 years experience interacting with in the Latin American insurance or reinsurance industry preferably in Political Violence / Property / Energy related products.
* Commercial ability to work with reinsurance brokers and cedents which could provide target accounts to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities:

Collect and analyze information about the customer's financial situation, financial and personal goals, tolerance for risk and change, plans for the future, income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
Analyze financial information for customers to make an initial assessment regarding whether the customer and the property may qualify for a particular lending solution.
Make recommendations to customers about which lending solutions would best meet the customers' financial and personal objectives
Advise customers about the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending solutions.
Promote Citi's brand, and promote Citi as the provider for lending and other financial solutions. This includes promoting Citi and its financial services to real estate agencies, builders, other referral sources, and customers.
Visit customers outside of Citi's offices, with such visits to vary based on clientele, geography, market conditions, and other factors.

* Assist Underwriting and Program Development in the analysis, development and documentation of products (rates/rules/forms) with a focused responsibility for rate/rule page manuals development and complex forms drafting.
* Coordinate product review with various stakeholders (Program Managers, Product Line Officers, Actuarial, Claims, Compliance, Systems, Program Administrator, etc.) and drive to conclusion the Legal review and approval process for forms/endorsements.
* Assist in the development and implementation of product and filings strategy.
* Handle all coordination aspects of the state filings submission process serving as a liaison between AIG Programs staff and the AIG State Filings Department. Responsible for the accurate completion of all required filing related transmission documentation.
* Coordinate the response to State Insurance Department objections on state filings with input from Program Managers, Product Line Officers, Program Administrator, Actuarial and Legal. Direct AIG State Filings Department personnel on responding.
* Provide product support for market conduct inquiries.
* Coordinate state filing product approvals to include notification to Program Administrators, Underwriting and AIG Systems/Operations for implementation. Provide related system programming specifications to align with product/filing intent.
* Conduct research on competitor products and state filings and periodically monitor for market changes. Analyze and compare product offerings and provide related guidance on Program development and expansion opportunities.
* Provide support and corresponding organizational control to the manuscript endorsement request/development process. In addition to any product drafting/review efforts required, provide regulatory guidance on acceptability and maintain manuscript forms library and inventory/tracking sheet in shared environment.
* Participate in coordination meetings with other business units and support areas of AIG to ensure that the administration, state filing and system implementation activities of AIG Programs are in sync with the rest of the organization.
* Maintain a library of finalized product for reference.
* Develop and maintain SOPs to reflect various aspects of the product filing and implementation processes..
What you'll need to succeed
* 7+ years of relevant experience in insurance industry.
* Experience in Commercial Lines property/casualty insurance products.
* Experience in ISO Commercial Lines products, package policy structure, admitted and non-admitted products, and Programs business.
* Bachelor's degree and insurance designations (CPCU, AU, ARM, etc.) preferred, will consider applicable insurance experience in lieu of degree.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
* Strong research skills, including use of AM Best State Filings, RateFilings.com, SERFF, etc.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and project management skills.
