Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and professional CDL-A Driver to join our Transportation team starting at 6:00am, Monday-Friday. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of metal materials to and from client sites and other AIM facilities.
What you're responsible for:
Operating a Class A commercial vehicle to transport metal materials to and from designated locations, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and company policies
Safely loading and unloading metal materials onto the truck using appropriate equipment and secure the load to prevent shifting or damage during transit
Local runs, with opportunities for out of state runs depending on qualification and availability
Performing manual tarping if necessary
Performing routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring that it is in good working condition
Completing accurate and thorough records of deliveries and any other required documentation
Qualifications

You have experience driving 18 speed manual transmission (required)

Job Responsibilities:
Product donation local pickups and deliveries throughout the eight-county service territory.
Maintain and build a professional rapport with donors to foster continued support for the Foodbank.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle operations and maintenance on a daily basis, in accordance with DOT and Foodbank regulations.
Load and off-load freight, supplies, and/or equipment, as required, using a pallet jack or tow motor.
Detect and eliminate safety and sanitation hazards ensuring that all product donations meet Foodbank and AIB standards.
Maintain all current licenses, certifications, and medical cards, in accordance/ compliance with Foodbank, DOT, State and Federal mandated requirements.
Maintain a clean and operable vehicle, inside and out, (i.e., fuel, oil, air pressure, filters, light bulbs, etc.) ensuring the Foodbank brand is upheld as you represent the organization in the community that we serve.
Complete pre and post DOT/CSA inspections by recording the vehicle conditions on the DVIR (driver vehicle inspection report) and turn in the report at the end of each day.
Ensure complete compliance with all local, state, and federal motor vehicle regulations to avoid citations that could result in fines or penalties to you personally or to the Foodbank.
Cover routes for other drivers when needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma and two (2) years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in a grocery or food-related environment encompassing sales and customer relations.
Possession of a valid Ohio Class A-Commercial Driver's License (CDL), current Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) with the requirement of renewing no less than every 2 years, current DMV printout with no moving violations, and forklift certification, with the necessary experience to pass a performance review.
Proven ability to drive tractor-trailers and operate standard warehouse equipment. Ability to safely operate all types of equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts and tow motors.
Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to define problems and move to resolution for preventative equipment maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of transportation and warehouse equipment.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and CSA requirements.
Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision and to follow standardized procedures and set schedule.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records. Add, subtract, multiply and divide units of weight successfully, compute ratio, rate and percent. Write reports and record transactions with proper format and legibility, using all parts of speech.
Exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.
Work inside freezers and coolers with a temperature range of -10 degrees F. to 38 degrees F.
Ability to work well with other staff and to relate well to donors and agency representatives. Speak to customers with poise, voice control and confidence, imparting information in a clear and understandable manner to uphold the Foodbank brand in the community that we serve.
Must be an enthusiastic professional with a high level of customer orientation and relationship building skills.
Must be able to follow all American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, Department of Transportation, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) safety regulations.

SUMMARY
Perform routine driving, inspection of transported goods and material handling duties for retail operations. Work under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager RI.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Warehouse typically operates seven days per week to support the Agency retail operation. May be required to work weekend (i.e. Saturday, Sunday), evening and holiday hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drive truck with gross vehicle weight under 26,001 lbs. to transport contract materials, finished goods,merchandise, etc., to and from specified destination; perform those services for retail operations whichwill include inter-state travel.
Operate mobile phone ( not while driving) and maintain regular communication with Warehouse Coordinator as to location, destination, other required business or emergencies.
Verify truckloads against shipping memos and packing lists, as appropriate.
Contact supervisor for decision in questionable cases.
Pad, stack and secure transportable goods in position to prevent damage and safety hazards.
Load and/or unload goods; may be assisted by a helper when loading or unloading.
Obtain truck helper's assistance in exiting the truck and follow his/her directions when backing up.
Insure that truck is maintained in a safe and properly working condition; check oil, water and fuel levels, tires, lights and brakes on a daily basis…at least twice a day…Pre and Post Trip Inspections.
Complete post trip inspection form, and report vehicle status or mechanical problems to Warehouse Coordinator for scheduling of repairs and regular maintenance.
Report driving accidents, incidents or traffic violations to supervisor immediately, and complete required reports of the same.
Perform emergency roadside repairs as well as minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. maintaining overall cleanliness of inside/outside of truck, topping off all fluids to proper levels, replacing windshield wiper blades, and lighting bulbs) to truck as required/needed.
Safely remove snow and ice from entire vehicle when required/needed.
Obtain safety, first aid or other relevant in-service training as required by supervisor.
Perform other essential duties when truck is not available or when duties are completed, as directed by supervisor.
Responsible for the movement of materials for the plant, in-house or at other sites, to include loading and unloading of trucks, movement of raw materials and completed shipments to and from sites, house call pickups, and storage of goods.
Dispose of waste materials in and around job sites.
Follow verbal instructions or read work orders to determine materials and containers to be moved.
Load materials into and from vehicles, install strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, assisting truck driver.
Convey materials to and/or from storage or work sites to designated areas using hand truck and tow motor.
Participate in training regarding proper and safe operation of hand truck and tow motor.
Occasionally count, weigh and/or record number of units of material moved or handled.
Assist in preparation of all shipping documentation for materials being shipped from premises.
Lift heavy objects by hand.
Maintain clean work area, machines and/or equipment.
Responsible for operation of baler equipment including but not limited to pricing, inventory control, etc.
Will notify supervisor in the event of problems with equipment.
Remove snow/ice from sidewalks at main office and at other locations as necessary to ensure safe environments.
Perform other related essential duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
