American Mobile Healthcare company history timeline

1991

In a 1991 interview with the New York Times, Bruce Male recalled how he started the company with almost no resources:

1999

The company rejected his proposal to start a new travel nursing division so he started his own company and named it Traveling Nurse Corps (it would later become TravCorps and merged with Cross Country in 1999).

2001

In the wake of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, AMN Healthcare team members raise more than $32,000 for American Red Cross relief efforts.

2003

The California Legislature Assembly proclaims the 8th of October "AMN Healthcare Day". By the end of 2003, AMN Healthcare has more than 4,300 hospital and healthcare facility clients.

2005

AMN Healthcare Cares, the company’s community service program, receives the 2005 National Public Service Award from the American Staffing Association.

2010

By 2010, the demand for travel nurses was greater than ever as the United States economy recovered and an aging population and increased access to healthcare services (partly due to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) increased the demand for nurses and other healthcare professionals.

2011

Novation names AMN Healthcare its 2011 "Purchased Services Supplier of the Year".

2019

AMN Healthcare listed to the Bloomberg 2019 Gender Equality Index.
