WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required. At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses, schools and many other locations. All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive.
Basic computer skills are required. Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

You will be responsible for receiving, processing, packing and shipping blood products/samples for hospital orders. You will triage the order based on date and time needed, select and carefully pack life-saving blood products with the correct temperature regulating product to ensure safe transport. You will communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, and maintain product records to preserve traceability.

Qualifications

DEPARTMENT: Samaritan Center for Adult Care REPORTS TO: Adult Day Services Director SUPERVISES: NA STATUS: Contingent - On Call, up to 20 hours per week SCHEDULE: Schedule will typically be between 9 am and 3 pm. FUNCTION: Responsible for the general supervision of participants, providing personal care to the participants, providing medication administration and general health monitoring along with nursing assessments, documentation and communication with participant's physician.
Responsibilities
DUTIES:
* Provide administration of medication and documentation of such
* Provide nursing treatments per physician's orders
* Develop and update participant's plan of care with input from assessments and the inter-disciplinary team
* Maintain monthly and episodic nursing notes on each participant
* Consult, as needed, in initial evaluation, admission and discharge decisions
* Maintain communication with physician regarding participant status at least upon admission and every ninety days
* Perform and/or supervise all participant nursing assessments including vital signs, weights, and blood glucose finger stick tests. Provide follow up of findings as needed
* Respond to emergencies in participant care
* Provide input on monthly activity calendar regarding health and exercise programs
* Advise on daily snack schedule and create monthly calendar of snack ideas
* Maintain open communication with participants and caregivers including feedback and health information when needed
* Provide staff in-services as needed and/or when directed by Program Director
* Maintain staff training logs and assist in ensuring annual trainings are complete for all staff
* Assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures to maintain safety and compliance with multiple funding sources.

* Provide the supervision and personal care needs of the participants including, but not limited to, assistance with ambulating, eating, grooming, and toileting
* Assist with the implementation and documentation of Individual Service Plans as required
* Observe and report any change in participant status to the caregivers, physician, and/or director
* Assume appropriate team responsibilities to meet program needs
* Assist with training and directing volunteers including, but not limited to, Mature Service workers and Job and Family Service - Work Experience Program workers.
* Assist, as needed, with meal site tasks including, but not limited to, meal orders, set up, and clean up
* Participate in at least twelve hours of in-service or continuing education on appropriate topics each calendar year
* Maintain CPR and First Aide Certification
* When necessary, perform janitorial duties related to the Adult Day Center. For example, sweep/vacuum/mop daily; clean bathrooms and restock paper products/soap as needed; remove trash from all offices/kitchen/bathrooms; clean windows as needed; dust furniture & blinds as needed; replace light bulbs as needed; sweep, shovel and salt sidewalks and patios as needed.
* Be conscientious of safety related matters throughout the building and on the property
* Other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Activity Director, and/or Corps Officer
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a high school graduate, or have successfully completed a GED
* Must have a current, valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Ohio
* Must be able to provide nursing services within the nurse's scope of practice
* Must pass Criminal Background Check with no disqualifying offenses
* Must be CPR and First Aide Certified
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
* Must possess a valid Ohio Drivers License
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* Must be capable of performing routine cleaning tasks
* Must be reliable and dependable
* Must have understanding and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
