The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is seeking a talented and highly organized Programs Associate to join our Industry Affairs team, reporting to the Vice President, Industry Affairs.
The Industry Affairs Programs Associate provides logistical and administrative support to both the Industry Affairs Department and Women In Motion (WIM) Council.
The position provides programming support to the Industry Affairs team, through event and programmatic management: America's Road Team; Share the Road; Workforce Heroes, Intermodal Motor Carriers; LEAD ATA, Trucking U, Mike Russell Trucking Image Award, and National Truck Drivers Appreciation Week. The position also provides support to WIM through membership maintenance and program assistance.
This position interacts with ATA staff at both HQ and the Hill, members, and stakeholders.
Because of the nature of this position, the incumbent is expected to be in the office 3 days a week at our HQ in Navy Yard (SE) Washington, DC. An ideal candidate will demonstrate flexible and efficient time management in a fast-paced environment and can manage and prioritize the workload - often with competing deadlines - working across all programs.
This role is required to be in office M, Tu and Th, due to the nature of the position. There will be some weeks where all five weekdays require you to be in office. May and October are busy seasons for this position and extended leave time may not be approved during those months. Travel for two yearly ATA conferences (Mid-Year Management Session in May and Management Conference & Exhibition in October) is required, along with preparation the two weeks proceeding each conference.
This role will have the opportunity to travel around the US. Opportunities for advancement within the Industry Affairs department and greater ATA will be available and encouraged.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
Manage Financial and Sponsorship Records : Maintain department credit card charges, track sponsorship revenue, and handle expense reports for four truck programs.
Coordinate Program Logistics : Assist with building itineraries, shipping giveaways and materials, and preparing/distributing event binders for various programs.
Support Onsite Operations : Coordinate, print, and ship meeting supplies for Industry Affairs and WIM teams to ATA and/or industry events
Maintain Communication Channels for ATA Programs : Oversee Industry Affairs and WIM inboxes, respond to inquiries, and registration support for ATA events.
Track Engagement and Promote Events : Update charts with various industry affairs activities and attendance, and post event photos on program social media pages.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience- BS/BA in Hospitality, Event Management, Communications, or related field or 1 to 3 years' experience in event planning, logistics planning, marketing, or communications required.
Skills -
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Strong organizational, time and project management skills.
Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to work under short deadlines.
Demonstrated flexible and efficient time management; can work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional disposition.
Proficiency in an AMS (ATA uses Personify) or directory management websites is preferred.
This role will support two teams and conduct cross-departmental projects. Ability to work independently and in a team environment on projects from inception to completion is highly preferred.

Job Duties
Provide engineering expertise to the design and development of improved and/or new company products for material handling industry.
Concept Product Design - Present creative, workable ideas in a well-planned form to supervision for approval. Perform in-depth analytical engineering to develop solutions involving complete structures, power and/or performance.
Layout Design - Create layouts of proposed design. Ensure that designs are functional, safe, reliable, serviceable, manufacturable, cost effective and esthetically and ergonomically correct. Select appropriate materials, organize bill of materials data and approve detail drawings.
Monitor Prototype Creation - Order parts, request specific testing and assist in building prototypes. Review test results to ensure proper functioning and redesign upon need.
Product Release - Assist in engineering design release to production. Assist purchasing, quality and manufacturing engineering in preparation for production. Assist service and marketing departments in developing product service manual or literature content or resolving content discrepancies.
Project Leadership - Support supervisor with creation of project plans/schedules and provide status reports as required. Provide technical support to other engineers as required. Respond to questions from purchasing, sales, engineering and other departments.
Miscellaneous - Attend training courses, conferences and meetings on application of new technology. Assist in the development and maintenance of design guidelines. Review colleagues' designs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related

Hourly Pay: $32.01 per hour
CDL A or B Required
Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
Basic tools, required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder Drug Test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities
Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Performs standard vehicle maintenance
Performs standard component inspections and repairs
Performs preventive maintenance
Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
Replaces defective components as instructed
Performs facility maintenance duties
Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work involves all shifts including weekends in company trucks, delivering orders to our customers and checking them for accuracy.
Responsible for following all DOT regulations, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, properly maintaining your log book and/or e-logs, and reporting any deficiencies in your equipment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Class A Commercial Driver's License and 2+ years of Tractor/Trailer driving experience.
Must be at least 21 yrs. of age.
Dependable and safety conscious.
Consistent on-time performance and strong customer service skills.
Excellent driving record.
EOBR knowledge preferred.
