HI USA is looking for a Housekeeping Associate to help keep our iconic Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel clean, welcoming, and guest-ready. This unique oceanfront property features 59 beds across four buildings and serves approximately 13,500 educational and recreational travelers annually.

Role Objectives & Responsibilities
Clean and maintain four hostel buildings, including daily tasks and periodic deep cleaning
Process, wash, fold, and stock laundry
Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of hostel grounds and gardens
Perform routine hot tub maintenance
Restock supplies and maintain housekeeping inventory
Provide on-call assistance in emergencies while on the hostel premises
Support hostel safety and security for guests and their belongings
Represent HI USA, California State Parks, and the US Coast Guard positively to guests, callers, and the general public
Assist with light building maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Hostel Manager or Director of Hostel Operations
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality preferred
Customer service experience and comfort working with the public
Ability to work independently and stay organized without direct supervision
Flexible schedule, including availability for weekends and holidays
Basic computer skills a plus
First Aid and CPR certification preferred
Previous hostelling experience a plus

- Perform housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and groundskeeping duties as needed
- Welcome, register, orient, and supervise guests; provide group orientations in a friendly manner

- Excellent oral communication, organizational skills, and computer literacy (WINXP, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred)
- Ability to work independently, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and as part of a larger team

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $98,000 to $115,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).

Maintain Cleanliness of all Dining Utensils
Responsible for making sure all plates, glasses, bowls and silverware are perfectly cleaned between uses by using an industrial dishwasher and then hand polishing to remove leftover smudges. Stock kitchen lines with designated cleaned wares, utensils and equipment. Clean spills in kitchen and work area immediately. Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils and other kitchen equipment.
Maintain Cleanliness of Kitchen and Storage Areas
Make sure the kitchen and storage areas are kept clean at all times. This includes cleaning industrial kitchen appliances, such as stoves, grills, freezers and ovens etc. Organize and restock work areas for the next shift as specified in departmental standards. The kitchen must meet health and safety standards at all times.
Assist With Food Storage, Rotation and Preparation
Responsible for food preparation. This includes things like preparing fresh salads, grilling, garnishing dishes and adding fresh salt or pepper according to customer taste.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to apply common sense to carry out simple written or verbal instructions. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following:
Constant standing and walking throughout
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 25-60 lbs.
Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Requires to reach with hands and arms and often stop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
This is a full-time position, and as such, hours and days to work WILL fluctuate up to and including weekends and holidays.
