Member Duties : Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups. * Works jointly with the Ohio START caseworker and behavioral health provider to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of intensive wrap around services to the START families on his/her/their caseload.
* Participates in initial meetings, weekly status meetings and Family Team Meetings (FTMs) to review families' progress and on-going child safety; Provides on-going exploration of the family's needs in order to empower the family to take ownership over their long-term successes and the safety of their child(ren).
* Assists the Child Welfare (CW) Caseworker with support activities; Assists with placement activities and accompanies CW Caseworker in the field as needed.
* Arranges, coordinates and/or supervises visitation at the Family Interaction Center, Family Enrichment Center, in the community, parent or relative/caregiver homes; Teaches parents basic parenting skills, child development, rearing, discipline and age-appropriate parent/child interaction, as needed.
* Coordinates and works closely with other community service providers, i.e., doctors, therapists, schools and courts on behalf of the children on caseload; Coordinates or provides transportation for children to doctors, school, therapy and community agencies as needed.
* Works with clients to obtain case related information and/or completion of forms; Delivers agency communication(s) to clients and/or caregivers as needed/directed; Assists in the delivery of resources/goods to clients at the direction of the CW Caseworker and/or supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) program provides an opportunity for those who are involved with the criminal justice system, charged with an offense and exhibit substance use and/ or mental health treatment needs, to access care and treatment with the long-term goal of managing their lives in the community and preventing future arrests and returns to incarceration. The Peer Mentor position was created using the research and belief that involving people who have their own lived experience with substance use, mental health conditions, and/ or criminal justice involvement is invaluable in reaching and helping the population.
The Peer Mentor role mentor will guide individuals using their experiences to support people in a way which shows people that recovery is possible and does happen - a peer mentor becomes a role model. The Peer Mentor provides services that are strength-based and trauma-informed. The Peer Mentor provides outreach, engagement, and accompaniment to individuals enrolled in the program programs on-site and in the community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide overview of program, department, and agency services through Orientation activities;
Accompany participants to provider sites to give support and navigation assistance;
Co-facilitate group activities that teach clients how to identify risky thoughts and slows down impulsive behavior to change their thought patterns for prosocial behavior;

Peer Support & Escorting Services:

Job DescriptionDescriptionOverview Adult English Language and Literacy (AELL) is the direct service provider of ESOL and adult literacy instruction for the Library. They use professional teachers to offer free instruction to adult patrons in reading, writing, speaking and listening from a 0 to 8th grade level. Through formal classes in language and literacy, as well as elective offerings such as English conversation and citizenship preparation groups, AELL has taken on the charge to expand ESOL instruction in the Library.

Job Summary
This is a part-time student position funded by Title III IDEAS Grant. Peer mentors/coaches are integrated into advising center or other campus offices, to assist professional advisors or student success coaches and faculty/staff with supporting students at Southwest.
Mentors might handle referrals to campus resources, study skills coaching, or pre-registration education, which frees up professional coaches and advisors to focus on complex advising cases. Peer mentors may be “on call” for a set number of hours each week, to handle referred and walk-in students. Or, programs may require peer mentors to hold several meetings each term with students, either one-on-one or in groups.

Engage in two HIPs (work-based learning and e-portfolio development)
