Ability to focus on interventions for improvement Provides appropriate responses to providers regarding UM questions or direct these questions to the Director of Utilization Management Monitors utilization management queues and dashboards, assuring compliance with reporting and turnaround times. Participates in the interdisciplinary approach to support continuity of care Participates in the Case Management processes and assists with the development of case management programs Ability to participate and contribute with the written policies and procedures and workflows Ability to participate in the On-Call rotation to ensure timeliness is maintained Ability to work occasional after hours to ensure timeliness is maintained. Other duties as assigned Less than 10% travel to the corporate office for Department meetings JOB REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from an accredited school/college with 3-5 years of clinical experience Maintain Active Registered Nurse License, (Compact, RN preferred) 1-5 years managed care Utilization Management experience (preferably with a Health Plan) Demonstrated experience in health plan utilization management, initial reviews, facility concurrent review discharge planning, and case management required. Medicare Advantage experience required Experience with InterQual or MCG authorization criteria preferred. Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new systems are required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage professional relationships. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met; • He/she assists in the orientation of and supervision of nursing personnel, attends to the daily operations of the unit per shift, unit level, and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role as needed; • Takes an active role in direct resident assessment and care; • Must have ability to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies; • Must have knowledge of medications, their proper dosage and expected results; • Supervises and coordinates nursing personnel in providing direct resident care in adherence to State and Federal regulations; • Formulates individualized nursing care plans utilizing the nursing process; • Assesses each resident daily and implements a change in the course of action as needed; • Assists the physician on rounds and ensures that pertinent information is communicated to and from him/her and orders are taken correctly; • Participates in the training and supervision of nursing personnel; • Utilizes effectively the general principles of leadership and supervision; • Manages conflict through effective problem-solving and communication skills; • Acts calmly and efficiently in handling emergency situations; • Prepares daily assignment of duties, treatments, and miscellaneous tasks; • Assists with implementation of facility's Quality Improvement Program; • Assumes responsibility for the identification of potential safety hazards and for the identification of noncompliance with facility guidelines as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manuals; • Maintains accurate resident care records and documents pertinent data reflecting the use of the nursing process; • Attends and participates productively in the resident care meetings, staff meetings and in-services; • Maintains active licensure; • Attends all mandated in-services; • Takes an active role in teaching (formal or informal presentation) with residents, families and staff; • Dispenses medication and performs treatments, as requested, and in accordance with policies and procedures; • Assures that each resident's attending physician and family or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the resident's health condition; • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere promoting dignity and respect which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights; • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures; • Follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and yourself. • Attend care plan meetings; • Participate QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed, such as carrying out duties assigned as part of a performance committee; • As a condition of employment, complete all assigned training and skills competency; • Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings; • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility's emergency plan; • User proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to residents; • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications; • Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel; • Report any retaliation to the Human Resource Director and to the Compliance Officer; • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to the supervisor; • Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and state agency; • Protect residents from abuse, and cooperate with all investigations; • Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy; • Report any workplace injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor; • Performs additional duties as requested. ANNUAL HEALTH REQUIREMENT: • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
