What you do:

This internship will provide exposure to the following functions and duties:
Business Systems Administration:
Assist with identifying solutions to gather and present data
Support partners in their ability to leverage metric and metric solutions to measure and improve performance as well as drive decision making

Operations Analysis:
Support the development and continuous improvement of operational business metrics that help define and measure the performance of all processes associated with Reinsurance Operations.
Assess and improve operational processes in the Reinsurance Operations space.
Investigating defects or errors in the technology.
What you bring:
Must be enrolled in a college program at least half-time as defined by your institution for the entire duration of the internship studying computer science, data analytics or related field.
Ability to commit to a 12-month internship working full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
Full-time hours: 30-40 hours per week
Part-time hours: 15-20 hours per week
Experience in Excel, Python, SQL, and/or Power Query/Power Pivot is desired.

**What Is the Opportunity?**
The goal of the Data Science Leadership Development Program (DSLDP) internship is to attract and develop self-motivated individuals who are highly skilled and passionate about a career in data science while providing a foundation for future success within the organization.
As a DSLDP intern, you will be exposed to a challenging professional work experience in data science with planned activities giving you insight into the community at Travelers, and the many ways we solve business problems using cutting edge statistical and analytical techniques.
You will assist to design, develop and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured and structured, diverse data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement.
With many company-wide events such as Intern Symposium and community outreach events, you will have the opportunity to interact and network with many levels of leadership and management. You will be expected to work together with fellow interns to develop and present solutions to relevant business and data science topics.

**What Will You Do?**

Position Overview

Assist with project analysis work related to current clients. This may include but is not limited to claims analysis, trend and utilization analysis, IBNR and reserve studies, lag analysis, vendor discount reviews and other special on-going data projects requests that may arise on client business
Manage and perform benefit cost modeling projects using the BeneFuture tool.
Utilize the data results for clients using the BeneView data warehouse.
Manage and be engaged with the pharmacy coalition and preferred re-insurance terms.
Assist the consulting staff in the proper usage of these features and be engaged in the monitoring and analysis of the continued effectiveness of the tools.
Requirements:
