Amphenol was founded by Schmitt J. Arthur in 1932 and is headquartered in Wallingford, CT, United States.
The innovative Chicago entrepreneur Arthur J. Schmitt founds Amphenol and remains its CEO until 1964.
In 1966 the company purchases Tuchel-Kontakt GmbH of Heilbronn/Germany.
In 1981, the company that was the result of the merger between Focke-Wulf and Weserflug becomes part of the aviation group Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB), known today as Airbus.
With on-board interconnection products and pipe bracket systems made by Air LB. In 1985, the head office of the German GmbH relocates to Saarlouis.
Amphenol Fiber Systems International is a fiber optic company started in 1993 that specializes in the fabrication and manufacturing of fiber optic connectivity products and systems.
On October 10, 2005, Teradyne and Amphenol announced that Amphenol would acquire Teradyne Connection Systems, for about USD $390 million in cash.
