Strong understanding of authentication and authorization, especially as it applies to API design (e.g., JWT, OAuth2, resolver-level access control)
Familiarity with audit logging, rate limiting, and schema hardening
Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally to align API security with product needs and developer experience
Willingness to go above and beyond, including submitting fixes and supporting teams directly when needed
Experience using AI to automate tasks is a significant plus (e.g. log analysis, code review, alert triage)
Familiarity with application security concepts is preferred, but not required

Software Engineer II, Web
Amplitude 4.5
Amplitude job in San Francisco, CA
Amplitude is the leading digital analytics platform, helping over 4,300 customers-including Atlassian, Burger King, NBCUniversal, Square, and Under Armour-build better products and digital experiences. With powerful AI Agents embedded across our platform, teams can analyze, test, and optimize user experiences faster than ever. Ranked #1 across multiple categories by G2, Amplitude is the best‑in‑class solution for product, data, and marketing teams. Learn more at amplitude.com.
As an organization, we deliver for our customers by living our values. We operate from a place of humility, take ownership of problems and successes, approach challenges with a growth mindset, and put our customers at the center of everything we do.
Amplitude's Commitment to Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Amplitude believes that diversity enables the creation of better products, improves the ability to solve complex problems, and drives more powerful solutions. We strive to create an environment of inclusion-one focused on psychological safety, empathy, and human connection-that will allow employees of all backgrounds to thrive.
About The Role & Team
Amplitude's marketing site, amplitude.com, is a core part of how we go to market. It's where prospects explore the product, where launches and campaigns go live, and where we convert traffic into trials and customers. It's also a production system- with performance, SEO, security, and reliability requirements that match our product.
This role sits within the PLG + Growth Platform team, a cross‑functional group focused on building the infrastructure that powers how Amplitude grows. As a web engineer on this team, you'll be responsible for the platform behind amplitude.com-a Next.js application powered by Sanity CMS and deployed via Vercel. The system supports self‑serve publishing for non‑technical users, but the engineering surface remains large: reusable component libraries, CMS schema evolution, structured data, rendering strategies, analytics instrumentation, and experimentation support.
You'll work closely with stakeholders across Marketing, Brand, Product, and Engineering to enable fast, safe iteration on the site-while maintaining a high bar for code quality, site performance, and operational reliability. This role involves both feature work and platform stewardship: building new capabilities while also improving how the site is operated, measured, and maintained.
This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys working on company websites with real business impact, and who wants to own a high‑visibility surface end‑to‑end.
As a Software Engineer II on the Web team, you will:
Build and maintain amplitude.com using Next.js, TypeScript, and Sanity CMS
Design reusable page sections and evolve schema structures to support self‑serve content creation
Optimize the site for performance, Core Web Vitals, SEO, and accessibility
Maintain and extend platform capabilities: CMS integrations, analytics instrumentation, Algolia indexing, and forms
Operate the site in production: triage issues, own deployments, monitor uptime, and support on‑call responsibilities with clear runbooks
Ship pages and platform changes in close partnership with Marketing and Brand Design
Support feature launches, benchmarks, product release pages, and global marketing initiatives
Use AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT to accelerate iteration while maintaining quality and correctness in your work
Contribute to a high‑quality, fast‑moving engineering culture with code reviews, documentation, and thoughtful architectural decisions
You'll be a great addition to the team if you:
Have 2+ years of experience as a web or full‑stack engineer, ideally on a company website or similar marketing‑driven surface
Are comfortable working in a modern web stack (Next.js, TypeScript, Git, Vercel or similar)
Understand how to build reliable, maintainable systems that support rapid iteration
Have worked with headless CMS platforms (Sanity preferred) and understand schema‑driven site architecture
Care about shipping things that are correct, fast, and user‑friendly- even when timelines are tight
Have experience instrumenting sites for analytics and experiments
Communicate clearly with cross‑functional teams and can lead scoped projects independently
Take feedback seriously, improve through iteration, and hold a high bar for your own code
Use AI tools as a force multiplier, not a crutch, and are comfortable debugging or rewriting what they produce
Show strong critical thinking and a desire to keep growing, learning, and raising the bar
Have led the technical side of a rebrand, global site rollout, or localization effort
Are comfortable navigating both the feature and platform layers of a site stack
Have worked on growth‑focused systems-pricing pages, signup flows, launch surfaces
Understand how marketing sites and product surfaces work together to drive activation and conversion
Have experience improving SEO performance, rendering modes (SSG/SSR), or web accessibility in production systems
Are excited to own a high‑visibility property and treat it like a product, not a static site
