Richard “Richie” R. Whitt is Co-Chief Executive Officer of Markel Corporation (NYSE: MKL), a diverse financial holding company including insurance, reinsurance, and investment operations around the world. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and founded in 1930, Markel has consistently been a top performing company with a market capitalization of more than $14 billion and annual revenues of almost $7 billion. In 2016, Markel was first included on the Fortune 500 annual rankings. Richie assumed the Co-CEO role alongside Tom Gayner as of January 2, 2016. Richie is responsible for worldwide insurance and reinsurance operations, our insurance-linked securities fund managers, and the company’s shared service teams. Markel has been very active over the past 20 years from a mergers and acquistions standpoint, and Richie has been a central figure within the organization on all of its major transactions. Richie began his career with KPMG in the audit practice and joined Markel in 1991 in the finance area. Richie was promoted to Controller in 1994, serving in that role until 2001 when he assumed the position of Vice President, Treasurer and Controller. From 2003-2005, Richie relocated to London where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Markel’s International operations. He was instrumental in both integrating and eventually restructuring these operations within Markel. In 2005, Richie returned to Richmond and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer, a role which he held for the next five years until he was named Co-Chief Operating Officer. Richie is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned a degree in accounting and information systems. He also previously held the CPA and CPCU designations. Richie serves on the board of overseers for St. John’s University School of Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science; the board of trustees for the Virginia Tech Foundation; the board of trustees for the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges; and the board of directors for the Richmond World Affairs Council.

Richard (Rick) McKenney is president and chief executive officer for Unum Group, one of the world’s leading providers of workplace financial protection benefits. He became president in April 2015 and assumed the role of CEO in May of the same year. McKenney served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Unum Group from 2009 to 2015, where he was responsible for overall financial management of the company, including financial reporting, treasury and capital management, strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions, investments, financial planning, investor relations, and enterprise risk management. He also chaired Unum’s Operating Committee, which oversees the company’s business operations throughout the U.S. and U.K. Prior to joining Unum in 2009, McKenney was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sun Life Financial, Inc., an international financial services company based in Toronto. McKenney began his career at GE, transitioning in his roles from manufacturing to financial leadership. He joined GE Financial Assurance in 1996 and became CFO in 2002. In 2004 he became CFO of Genworth Financial as part of the team that launched its initial public offering from GE. In 2017, McKenney joined the Board of Directors of U.S. Bancorp, the parent company of U.S. Bank National Association, the fifth largest commercial bank in the United States. He also serves on the board of the American Council of Life Insurers. McKenney graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. McKenney lives in Chattanooga, Tenn., with his wife and three children, and is active in his community. He serves on the boards of the Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation and the Chattanooga Chamber Foundation.

David H. Long (born 1961 in Liverpool) is an American and British businessman who is the CEO and chairman of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group. In September 2014 the Obama administration announced its intention to appoint Long to be a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
