AmWINS Group CEO and Leadership

Scott Purviance has been the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President and Secretary of AmWINS since July 2001. Previously, Scott was Vice President of Finance for the Business Insurance Division of Royal & SunAlliance USA, Inc. (1999-2001) and prior to that was in the insurance services assurance practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (1992-1999).​ ​

Kristin Downey has served as Director of Human Resources of AmWINS since December 2002. Prior to joining AmWINS, Kristin was employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where she spent five years in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services (ABAS) practice and two years as the Recruiting Manager for the Carolinas ABAS and Tax practice.​ ​​

Ben Sloop has served as President of our small business division, AmWINS Access, since its inception in January 2014. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Harvard, he began his career in management consulting at Bain & Company, then joined Parthenon Capital, a private equity fund, where he worked on the AmWINS capital raise in 2005. In 2006, he joined AmWINS in an M&A role. He left AmWINS in 2007 to attend Stanford Business School, and worked for Bills.com, a Silicon Valley start-up, from 2009-11.

Darin K. Stafford has served as chief financial officer of AmWINS since October 2016. Darin joined AmWINS from Remington Outdoor Company where, since 2009, he served as vice president, corporate controller and led a 40-member finance team with broad responsibility over corporate, operational and strategic finance, investor relations, shared services, treasury, risk management and real estate. Before joining Remington, Darin worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 15 years, including a 3-year rotation in London, England. Darin is a 1994 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in both Accounting and Finance.

David is a Vice President of the firm. He focuses primarily on the group’s investment activity in healthcare, and has prior experience in financial services. David serves on the board of directors of Hometown Urgent Care and Gallus BioPharmaceuticals, and he is involved in managing the investments in Alterra Capital Holdings, PartnerRe, Caesars Entertainment, and Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford. Prior to joining Banc of America Capital Investors in 2005, David was a senior associate consultant in the Boston and Amsterdam offices of Bain & Company. While there, David’s work involved cases in healthcare, consumer/retail, and basic industries. David graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Philosophy and Economics. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.
