Attends and actively participates in daily shift huddles and handoffs. 3. Collect in-process and finished-product samples for analytical and microbiological quality checks. 4. Performs verifications of: Package coding, product weights, packaging integrity, labeling, temperature, sensory, etc. to verify compliance with customer and MFI's specifications and all others associated regulations for all products. 5. Assist in drafting, revision, and maintenance of plant standard operating procedures. 6. Act as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department by communicating quality issues, assisting in corrective action implementation where necessary. 7. Participate in plant food safety/quality inspections, in-process inspections, mock recall, label audits, HACCP audits. 8. Perform analytical testing including: Solids Content, pH, Vitamin C, Viscosity, Organoleptic, Hydrogen Peroxide Residual, and Packaging Integrity. 9. Verify proper set-up of production lines at start-up and shift change: Printer set-up (coding), packaging materials, labeling, quality limits, etc. Ensuring code date information is accurate and distributed to the production team. 10. Review sanitary condition of production lines prior to start-up by visual and mechanical inspection, performing ATP (adenosine triphosphate / verify surface cleanliness) and APC (Aerobic Plate Count / Verify absence of microbiological organisms). 11. Perform pH analysis of samples as part of root cause investigations. 12. Use inventory control software to ensure non-conforming product does not enter commerce. 13. Assist in investigations in response to customer concerns or other quality related deviations to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions. 14. Assist in the management of quality hold activities, including non-conforming product inventories. 15. Ensure lab equipment, fridges and thermometer etc. are properly maintained and calibrated. 16. Lead and organize incubation sample collection and processing for investigations. 17. Maintain and follow MFI micro sample and shelf-life study programs. 18. Provide packaging integrity training to operations team. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow. 19. Chemist II Background: The Chemist II position is in the International Paper ink lab, which is part of the Ink and Plate group. IP Ink supplies water based flexographic printing inks and related services to corrugated packaging converters, bag manufacturers, and other flexographic printers within International Paper and to external customers. The ink lab provides color matching, technical service, formulation, and research and development services to our customers to help them produce high quality products. Performs clerical and administrative tasks, including maintenance of daily production records, report preparation and maintenance records Manages SAP Inventory (includes receiving materials, properly inspecting materials for use, and maintaining proper cycle counts) Performs daily radiation safety tasks, along with general lab cleaning Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent or equivalent work experience, preferred. Education in Sciences (Chemistry, Biology etc. preferred). 0-1 years of experience preferred Lab experience highly preferred Must be able to work overnight shift (Facility operates at night.) Prior experience in manufacturing, preferably in a controlled environment and/or regulated industry desired. Effective written and verbal English communication skills Able to repeatedly follow detailed processing instructions Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to evaluate operating conditions and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds Ability to see fine particulate and differentiate colors in liquid solutions. Ability to hear, write (English), and speak (English) clearly in order to communicate in manufacturing setting.
