BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experience in a related field. MSEE is a plus.
5+ years of professional hands-on experience in Electrical Engineering.
Strong understanding of both digital and analog design including test methods.
Experience with writing test scripts using Python.
Experience with testing batteries and battery management systems.
Experience with testing microcontrollers and programmable logic devices.
Experience using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, DMM's, programmable power supplies, etc.
Experience in board bring-up, system bring-up and validation.
Up to 20% of travel may be required between locations.

The pay range for this position in San Diego, CA is $140,000 to $223,000.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

About the Role
The Manager of Electrical Engineering will be responsible for leading, managing, and directly contributing to the electrical engineering organization, including both the system electrical development team and the advanced design development team. This role will provide technical direction and organizational leadership across the full product lifecycle of Class II/III medical devices, from early feasibility and concept development through design transfer, commercialization, and sustaining support of fielded products. Our system includes multiple real-time MCUs, high-power analog and digital circuits, and energy-delivery subsystems requiring precise performance and robust safety. The successful individual will be comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical contributions in both an R&D lab and a regulated documentation environment. To Make an Impact, You Will:
Lead and contribute to the design, debug, and characterization of high-voltage, mixed-signal circuits within complex Class II/III medical devices.
Provide both technical direction and hands-on guidance in system architecture, high-voltage isolation strategies, analog/digital circuit design, power delivery, and safety-critical subsystems.
Lead and coordinate lab activities, including board bring-up, troubleshooting, and advanced system debugging using oscilloscopes, HV probes, and other specialized test equipment.
Oversee and contribute to the preparation, execution, and review of design verification and validation protocols, characterization reports, and risk management activities and documentation (FMEAs, hazard analyses, trace matrices).

About This Role:

Engineers at iRhythm work passionately to deliver innovative solutions that improve the quality of healthcare and the patient experience. About This Role:
iRhythm's Product Development team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer I to join our Lifecycle (Sustaining) Engineering team. This role focuses on supporting existing products through their lifecycle, ensuring quality, compliance, and continuous improvement while maintaining business continuity. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead cross-functional projects that keep released medical device products compliant, reliable, cost-effective, and continuously manufacturable. What You Will Be Doing
* Lead (project & technical) lifecycle initiatives across a portfolio of released products to preserve quality, supply continuity, cost, and compliance; own charters, integrated plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
* Champion initiatives to reduce cost and improve delivery performance through design enhancements, process optimization, and supplier engagement.
* Drive engineering changes through PLM, including requirements updates, BOM and drawing revisions (GD&T), tolerance analyses, and complete DHF/DMR impacts under design control.
* Partner with supplier quality to review supplier changes and obsolescence, including technical assessments, qualifications/first article, PPAP (as applicable), alternate materials/components, and SCAR collaboration.
* Partner with Operations to plan and execute line validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and identify opportunities to improve yields, reduce scrap/cycle time, and stabilize processes using Lean/Six Sigma and evidence-based decision making.
* Coordinate integration of PCBA, firmware, mechanical design, and test systems between product development and manufacturing
* Coordinate across testing initiatives for system integration (SIT), UAT across manufacturing, cloud and enterprise platforms (E2E testing)
* Maintain and update risk management files per ISO 14971 (pFMEA/dFMEA, hazard analyses) with inputs from post-market surveillance, complaints, and nonconformances.
* Ensure regulatory and QMS compliance (21 CFR 820/ISO 13485), including change impact assessments for submissions, labeling/UDI implications, and support for audits/inspections.
* Own clear communication and stakeholder alignment, providing status, metrics, and decisions to leadership; mentor junior engineers and reinforce Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

This position would be a hybrid position with the expectation of 3-4 days in our San Francisco, California office.
In this role you will contribute directly to near and long-term commercialization efforts for our next-generation wearable bio-sensors, collaborating alongside a small team of multi-disciplinary engineers experienced in bringing medical devices to market. You will be treated as a regular member of the engineering team, inclusive of the associated projects, deliverables and accountability.
About You:
We are seeking an enthusiastic electrical engineering student or new graduate to be a part of the iRhythm Electrical Engineering team. You will gain exposure to the testing approach required to release Class 2 compliant hardware in the medical device industry. Your tasks will be to test, analyze, design, evaluate and debug circuits to support exciting additions to our product line. You have excellent technical and documentation skills, approach prototyping and debug with curiosity, interested in automation, appreciate feedback and feel satisfied once you collected data to back up your ideas.
Desired Qualifications
Strong EE fundamentals
Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Strong understand of analog and digital circuits, with underlying strength in math and physics
Hands-on lab experience including soldering, data acquisition, lab test equipment: multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc
Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging and functional verification
Familiarity with schematic and layout tools (Altium a bonus) as well as circuit analysis and simulation tools (SPICE)
Experience with a scripting language for analyzing and plotting data (Python a plus)
Ability to use Office tools: spreadsheets, word processor, etc
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable working with minimal supervision
This role will pay $35/hour.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience in a related field. MSME is a plus.
10+ years of professional hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering.
Up to 20% of travel may be required between locations.
