Andritz company history timeline

1895

Jesma-Matador's history dated back to the founding of Jesma in 1895, initially as a transporter of grain and other feed products, before turning to the manufacturing of equipment for the production of animal feed.

1900

1900: Andritz, which has begun producing equipment for the pulp and paper industry, becomes a public company.

1920

By 1920, Sundwig had become a specialist in machinery and plant equipment for the steel industry.

1948

Durametal had originally been founded in 1948 as Brake Drum Supply Company, but had grown to become a major manufacturer of refiner plates and other components for mechanical pulping systems and other industrial applications.

1950

In 1950, Creditanstalt-Bankverein, Austria acquired a majority interest in ANDRITZ.

1951

1951 Andritz embarked on the production of complete paper machines in cooperation with Escher Wyss.

1957

1957: Andritz is acquired by Credietanstalt-Bankverein, based in Vienna, and continues expanding its pulp & paper industry operations.

1983

In 1983, the company formed the basis of its later Environmental and Process Technologies division when it began adapting the dewatering and drying technologies it had been using for its pulp and paper industry systems for use in industrial sludge treatment.

1986

Sprout-Bauer had been formed in 1986 through the merger of two companies that traced their roots to the late 19th century.

1987

1987 Andritz began to change its strategic direction, from being a licensee of other equipment manufacturers to become a leading international supplier of its own high-tech production systems.

1992

1992: The company acquires Durametal, in the United States, to boost position in North America.

1994

1994: The company acquires Kone Wood Group.

1995

1995: The company acquires Jesma-Matador A/S, of Denmark, which is then combined with Sprout-Bauer to form Sprout-Matador.

1999

1999: AGIV sells Andritz to a consortium, including the Carlyle Group and Andritz management.

2003

2003 saw the Secondary Placing of ANDRITZ shares on the Vienna stock exchange.

2006

2006 With the acquisition of VA TECH HYDRO, Andritz advanced to a globally leading supplier of electromechanical equipment for hydropower plants

2008

In May and June 2008, Andritz acquired hydropower technology and certain assets of GE Energy’s hydropower business (including test laboratories in Canada and Brazil), as well as GE Energy’s majority interest in the joint venture GE Hydro Inepar do Brasil.

2009

Since January 2009, all these acquisitions now operate under "Andritz Hydro" name.

2013

2013 Largest acquisition was Schuler GmbH, Germany, leading company in metalforming
