Web Developer
Miva 4.5
Remote job
We are seeking a full-stack Web Developer (WD) with strong solution engineering skills and deep eCommerce experience to join Miva's Professional Services team. The WD develops within the Miva platform using Miva's server-side templating language (MVT), along with HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. We rely on engineering fundamentals rather than frameworks: the WD writes efficient server-side logic to render dynamic content and then enhances the storefront experience with clean, well-structured JavaScript and CSS.
Beyond the storefront UI, the WD serves as the technical bridge between clients' Miva stores and their broader business ecosystems. This includes writing custom integrations with external APIs, ranging from modern RESTful marketing platforms to legacy XML-based warehouse systems, without relying on third-party libraries. The WD must be comfortable delivering large-scale builds, handling ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and participating in project discovery across multiple client accounts, while demonstrating strong time management and focus.
This is a client-facing delivery role, not an internal product or R&D position. The WD collaborates closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other delivery team members to translate business requirements and user needs into high-performing solutions that adhere to defined scope and timelines and maximize platform capabilities. As a key technical liaison, the WD communicates effectively with clients in both written and verbal forms, and excels at translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
You will:
Scope, estimate, and execute development tasks based on approved client requirements, signed SOWs, and predefined service offerings
Develop, customize, and maintain eCommerce storefronts using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+ vanilla) within platform template and configuration layers
Maintain deep platform knowledge and proficiency to apply optimal store configurations within the Miva admin
Develop and support integrations using platform and third-party APIs, including REST and SOAP-based services, to connect Miva stores with ERPs, CRMs, payment providers, shipping systems, analytics platforms, and marketing tools
Consume, map, and validate external data within eCommerce workflows while handling authentication, rate limits, and error conditions appropriately
Troubleshoot and resolve frontend, backend, and configuration issues within the eCommerce platform and connected systems
Optimize storefront performance with a focus on Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and eCommerce conversion metrics
Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility using a mobile-first approach
Configure full-funnel eCommerce analytics and GA4 tracking using GTM
Develop optimized purchase flows to improve usability, accessibility, speed, and conversion performance
Implement merchandising solutions to enable cross-selling, dynamic product listings, and personalization
Configure rule-based promotions and discounts
Apply eCommerce-specific SEO best practices, including schema markup, product metadata optimization, faceted navigation handling, and crawlability
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established standards and best practices
Participate in code reviews, QA validation, and client acceptance testing aligned to defined acceptance criteria
Follow established deployment procedures, coordination processes, and release schedules across multiple client environments
Collaborate closely with UX Designers, Project Managers, and other delivery roles to execute pixel-accurate designs and meet delivery milestones
Track time accurately against approved client work, provide regular status updates, and communicate blockers or scope risks proactively
Perform other duties as assigned
You have:
5+ years of professional web development experience with at least 1 year focused on eCommerce platforms
Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like Sass/LESS), JavaScript (ES6+), vanilla
Firm grasp of the Document Object Model (DOM) and how to manipulate it without libraries
Working experience with PHP in a web development context
Ability to write CSS that works across browsers without relying on CSS-in-JS libraries
Hands-on experience developing and supporting API integrations using REST and SOAP
Experience working with SQL-based databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
Proficiency with version control systems and Git based workflows
Understanding of eCommerce focused performance optimization and SEO best practices
Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
Experience testing across browsers and devices
Ability to work within defined scope, timelines, and platform constraints in a client-facing delivery environment
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous team
Bonus points if you have:
Experience implementing eCommerce storefronts on platforms such as Miva, Shopify, BigCommerce, or Magento
Experience integrating with external systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERPs and CRMs
Experience with build tools such as Webpack or similar tooling
Advanced knowledge of Modern PHP and Laravel, with a focus on MVC design patterns, RESTful API development, and scalable backend architecture
Experience using containerization or local development tooling such as Docker
Prior experience working in an agency or Professional Services delivery environment
Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery efficiency and code quality
Familiarity with Agile or structured project delivery methodologies
