SUMMARY: A Security Officer is a full time officer in the Security Department that is daily assigned a post and duties by the Team Leader. Security Officers are assigned the task of insuring the safety and security of the property, including staff/employees, service delivery site employees, patients, visitors, venders, etc. Security Officers report to the Team Leader. RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintain strong situational awareness and observation skills. * Document activities at and around your assigned post with clear and concise written notes * Gather and organize facts and other essential information * Fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of criminal activity occurring on your property. * Focus your senses so as to provide the most effective security service possible. * Serve your company, your clients, law enforcement, and the public using the highest standards of personal and professional conduct. * Must carry out the orders and instructions given to them by the Team Leader. * Keep the Team Leader informed if activities and unusual or significant events. • Establish and maintain good rapport with peers and other AnMed Personnel. Responsible for insuring the safety and security of medical center employees, patients, visitors and property. Qualifications: * High school graduate or GED is required. * Must have and maintain a valid state-issued Driver's License. * Must complete a comprehensive South Carolina Law Enforcement background check as required for SLED certification. * Must complete the minimum training for Security Officers as required by the state during the first 30 days of employment. * Excellent communication, reading, writing, critical thinking and basic comprehension skills required. * Must be able to complete all reports and supplemental documentation accurately and in a timely manner. * Reports must be clearly written and free of grammatical errors. Functions Area of Responsibilities Enforce Tanner Health System rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Conduct proper interior and exterior security patrols and fix or report any safety, security, and maintenance issues as appropriate. Respond to active alarms and maintain high visibility on property. Manage patients with 1013 2013 status in accordance with Tanner policy. May also be required to assist in management of patients displaying inappropriate behavior as determined by staff, but not assigned 1013 2013 status by appropriate individuals. Maintain proper documentation in accordance with Tanner policy. Administer facility security and access control measures. Comply with standards set forth by regulatory agencies, to include the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Attend meetings and participate in continuing education mandated per department and system policy. Transport individuals, equipment, medications, and supplies within and between Tanner facilities. Use and maintain facility and issued equipment in accordance with Tanner policy. Secure individuals in high difficulty situations. This includes direct interaction with belligerent patients or visitors and crowd control. Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage. Apply appropriate use of force in accordance with Tanner policy when warranted for the protection of patients and staff.
