Title Code: Temp: Support Assistant This position is posted to create a pool of candidates. Eligible Candidates will be contacted as positions become available at this school. Under the direction of the supervising teacher or administrator, Temporary Support Assistants (TSA) assists teachers with the physical, emotional, behavioral, and instructional needs of students at the Preschool/PreK, elementary and secondary grade levels. Supervision of students throughout the school day, both in the school building and on work sites, includes carrying out instructional tasks, supporting self-care, and collecting data as outlined by professional staff based upon individual student objectives. Employee(s) must be capable of performing any and all of the listed duties individually or independently which may vary based upon their work location/assignment and available staffing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Participates in routine supervision of students throughout the school day within the school building and/or worksite /community environment; to include assisting on/off bus, lifting, pushing students in equipment and monitors entry and exit of students to assure they get to the correct location.
* Assists students with performing and developing proper social behavior, personal hygiene and self-help skills including, but not limited to, toileting (i.e., changing diapers and soiled clothing), feeding, grooming as assigned by the position throughout the school day and/or while at off-site locations.
* Supports students during instruction and other curriculum tasks, including reinforcing subjects initially introduced by the teacher in one-on-one or small groups, and implements instructional plans and activities as designated by the job coach and/or teacher. Provides reinforcement techniques to keep students focused and on task.
* Observes and manages behavior of students in the classroom, lunch areas, playground, and other learning environments according to approved procedures.
* Observes and gathers data regarding student performance on instructional and behavioral goals and provide data collection to the supervising teacher.
* Supports students with social, emotional, and behavior concerns including the implementation of behavior strategies and supports.
* Follows AACPS policies & procedures while assisting students and staff in the building and off-site work training activities and/or community-based settings.
* Participates in professional development; attends workshops and in-service training for all specialized related care needs, seizures, disruptive behavior, etc. as provided by Board of Education.
* Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Cultivates, secures, and stewards strategic relationships with businesses, nonprofits, civic and cultural institutions, workforce development organizations, higher education partners, and Annapolis-based community organizations.
Develops real-world curriculum partnerships that bring professional expertise, authentic community-based problems, and wraparound supports into Community Action Projects and interdisciplinary learning.
Collaborates with instructional leaders and teachers to identify programmatic needs and leverage community assets to expand opportunities for students and families.
Develops, executes, and maintains MOUs, partnership agreements, and structured plans for ongoing partner engagement and accountability.
Serves as a key external ambassador and communicator for New Village Academy with partners, funders, media, and civic leaders, in collaboration with school leadership.
Leads culturally responsive, trust-centered community engagement with families, neighborhood groups, faith-based organizations, and youth-serving partners..
Represents the school at public events, civic meetings, community celebrations, and outreach activities across Annapolis, supporting enrollment visibility and community presence.
Designs and coordinates family- and community-facing events, including info sessions, Celebrations of Learning, partnership events, and Gateway and Graduation ceremonies.
Helps design and implement the school's development strategy; cultivate donors and sponsors; create donor- and grantor-facing materials; and coordinate donor engagement and stewardship activities..
Identifies, writes, and manages grants; maintain development and partnership tracking systems; and provide regular reports on partnerships, community engagement, fundraising, and grant outcomes to school leadership and the Board.

Provides a set of written training rules/code of conduct policies to their students at the beginning of the season; refer to the Athletic Handbook (V. Coaching Guidelines & regulations. Sec 2, No.2a.) for guidance.
Determines the personnel of the team.
Administers appropriate forms of discipline for infractions of athletic policies, rules, or regulations, consistent with the Administrative HELP Manual's reference to due process.
Provides written communication to the student athlete regarding the requirements for earning an athletic award prior to the start of the season.
Submits to the athletic director an eligibility roster for certification at least one week before the first contest.
Collects and reviews completed required forms from each student athlete prior to their participation.
Maintains a written inventory of equipment, supplies and uniforms at the conclusion of the season.
Familiarize themselves with all current medical protocols and guidelines involving interscholastic athletics.
Knows and enforces all state, county and school athletic policies and procedures.

May assist with or prepare reports of behavioral problems encountered with the students during their transportation to and from school.
Attends in-service training, workshops, and individualized training for specific students as required by the Transportation Division.
Works cooperatively with school bus drivers, parents, students and other staff members. Maintains a clean bus and safety equipment.
Sees that students requiring a bus change at a shuttle point are properly and safely transferred to the correct school bus, as required.

* Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.

* Maintains the pool and in some cases the operation of the pool as per regulations established by Anne Arundel County Health Department, Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center and/or pool to which assigned.
* Works cooperatively with all school personnel and parents involved in the Drown-proofing Program.
* Assists in training of parents and volunteers.
* Assists in the supervision of volunteer staff.
* Attends staff in-services and meetings as scheduled.
* Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
* High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate preferred.
Experience
* One (1) year aquatic teaching experience required;

* Upon hire, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification issued by American Heart Association, Inc (AHA) or American Red Cross authorized training centers required.
* Hold or be eligible for Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certificate issued by American Red Cross licensed training provider preferred;
* Hold or be eligible for Pool Operator License issued by Anne Arundel County Department of Health preferred.

- Provides counseling and guidance for parents, children, and teachers regarding speech and language handicaps
- Assists in the development of curriculum and local policies as related to speech and language disabilities
- Conducts follow-up hearing screenings and referrals for students with communication disorders as needed with students who fail their initial hearing screenings\
- Maintains records sufficient to meet district criteria and to document student progress
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities
- May help mentor student therapists assigned to do student therapy experience in our district
- May help mentor new therapists to our district in need of certification
