Title Code: Temp: Custodian This posting creates a pool of candidates for current and future positions that may become available. During the application process you will select your preferred locations in the county. Under general supervision, maintains clean and healthy facilities for students and staff by performing routine cleaning and grounds maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Cleans and disinfects offices, classrooms, bathrooms, gymnasiums, locker rooms, auditorium/multipurpose rooms, halls, and stairs including stocking bathrooms.
* Collects trash and recyclable materials from classrooms, shops, offices, bathrooms, and grounds; transport and dispose in proper containers.
* Checks to ensure all door and windows are locked in assigned work area; and secures building at the end of shift and sets alarm.
* Moves furniture and other objects and transports as needed.
* Operates, cleans, and cares for power cleaning equipment and other cleaning materials and supplies according to written and oral instructions.
* Replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles, makes minor repairs, and reports building and equipment deficiencies needing repair.
* Assists with delivering instructional and custodial supplies to storage or other facility location.
* Clears snow and ice and places sand on entryways, walkways, steps, and landings to provide safe passageway.
* Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

* Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors.
* Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and dusts draperies and blinds.
* Empties wastebaskets and recycling containers. Transports trash and waste to disposal areas.
* Cleans in preparation for events set up in auditorium or exhibit galleries.
* Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, offices, rest rooms, elevators, stairways, exhibit galleries, exterior of exhibit cases, stairwells, entrances and exits, storage rooms and other work areas.
* Cleans and polishes permanent fixtures, various surfaces and trim.
Position responsibilities:
* Tile floors are spot mopped or dry mopped almost daily, auto-scrubbed monthly (sweep, wash, buff).
* Stairwells are cleaned at a minimum of three times each week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Perform housekeeping duties to include, but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors; vacuum & shampoo rugs and carpets; clean and dust furniture; clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms, restrooms and food service/dining areas; wash windows, window sills and frames.
2. Wash and/or clean interior wall spaces by hand or with powered wall washing machines, working on ladders and scaffolding, as required.
3. Remove trash and recycling from buildings.
4. Operate all related custodial equipment, to include but not limited to, upright vacuum cleaners, backpack vacuum cleaners, electric buffers, and carpet extractors.
5. Maintain communications via two-way radio while on campus.
6. Check e-mail on a daily basis
7. Remove snow and/or ice from steps, sidewalks, and parking areas using shovels snow blowers, tractors, and other snow removal equipment.
8. Maintain and ensure proper use of supplies equipment and chemicals.
9. Report to work, or remain at work, as directed during adverse conditions as essential personnel, even if the College is closed or delayed.
10. Provide custodial coverage for weekend events as scheduled.
11. Perform inspections and light maintenance, as directed.
12. Assist in set-ups, loading and unloading of equipment and supplies, as necessary.
13. Move heavy furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment, as directed.
14. As a designated Essential Personnel position, the Custodians are required to report for work or remain at work as directed, even if the College is closed or delayed.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma
