By Zippia Team - Dec. 17, 2021

Yes, warehouse workers are in demand. According to a LinkedIn report, warehouse workers on the frontlines of e-commerce are the most in-demand employees, and this demand is only expected to continue.

The e-commerce boom has led to high demand for roles such as warehouse and logistics managers and assemblers. This growth in warehousing due to the rise in e-commerce saw a 23.9% increase in sales during the 2020 holiday season, bringing the warehouse industry to experience a network growth upwards of $209 billion.

In 2Q 2021, a record 423.7 million square feet of industrial space was under construction to create new warehouses across the U.S. As this space is completed and occupied, they will need to fill an estimated 282,470 additional warehouse worker positions to support activities within these facilities.

This increased demand for warehouse workers is good news as many businesses may need to increase salaries by as much as 3.5% to compete for talent for high-demand roles, despite the ongoing recession triggered by the pandemic. Warehouse managers, for example, may see wages rise to as high as $43.21 an hour.
