Yes, lawyers can work from home. Many lawyers can perform much of their primary job from a home-based office or remotely. However, there are certain functions that they must conduct in-person. These mostly apply to specific events they must attend, such as trials or other court proceedings.

Lawyers hold meetings with clients and offer consultations to potential clients. Here they might discuss a number of different topics, such as specific evidence that relates to their cases, or legal strategies that the lawyer or firm wants to employ. All of these functions can be done through phone calls and video conferences in most cases.
