Ameris Bancorp's drug policy is there to ensure a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for their employees and others, to protect Company property, and to ensure efficient operations. The Company has adopted a policy of maintaining a workplace that is free of drugs and alcohol.

The unlawful or unauthorized use, abuse, manufacture, solicitation, theft, possession, transfer, purchase, sale, or distribution of controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, or alcohol by an individual anywhere on work premises, in a company vehicle, while on company business (whether or not on Company premises) or while representing the company is strictly prohibited.

Compliance by all employees with the terms of this policy is a condition of continued employment. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Ameris Bancorp maintains a policy of non-discrimination and endeavors to make reasonable accommodations to assist individuals recovering from substance and alcohol dependencies and those who have a medical history that reflects treatment for substance abuse conditions.

However, employees may not request an accommodation to avoid discipline for a violation of this drug and alcohol policy. Post-treatment for addiction, an employee may be asked to test once a year for two years after completing the program. Advance notice of a follow-up testing date is not given to the employee to be tested.

Employees who have a confirmed positive test or result and refuse to consent or submit to a drug and/or alcohol test or tamper with or adulterate a drug and/or alcohol specimen may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, to the extent permitted and in accordance with applicable law.

Ameris Bancorp is also a smoke-free workplace. They prohibit the use of tobacco or vaping products on work premises, company vehicles, or during company events. Ameris Bancorp offers free smoking cessation programs to any employee wishing to break the habit.
