Yes, Clean Harbors drug tests. Clean Harbors has a strict no-drug policy in its employee code of conduct. All new hires must take a pre-employment drug test as part of the onboarding process. Moreover, Clean Harbors has the right to drug test any employee randomly, if they suspect an employee is intoxicated or is involved in a workplace accident.
Clean Harbors does a 10-panel drug test via a urine, hair, or mouth swab. Testing is either done on-site or at a third-party lab. Clean Harbors tests for the following drugs:
Amphetamines
Cannabis
Cocaine
Opiates
Phencyclidine
Barbiturates
Benzodiazepines
Methaqualone
Methadone
Propoxyphene
Alcohol
If an employee tests positive then they are put on probation and must complete a drug treatment program. They are usually randomly tested again and if they fail a second time, they are automatically terminated. Prescription drugs are allowed as long as they do not impair your judgment or ability to operate heavy machinery.
Cannabis is not allowed and there are no exceptions to this rule regardless if a candidate has a medical cannabis card or lives in a state where cannabis is legal.
Clean Harbors is a smoke-free workplace. Employees are not allowed to use tobacco or vaping products while inside the building, in company cars, or at work-related events. At the recycling and processing plants, smoking is only allowed in designated areas outside of the plant.
