Does H-E-B drug test?

H-E-B's drug-free Workplace Policy is signed during the onboarding process and allows for random drug testing at the company's discretion. Those in safety-sensitive positions, or those injured on the job, are the most likely to be tested. They explicitly state this on the careers page of the website.

H-E-B does have a drug policy, but current and former employees have reported it is seldomly enforced.

The most common positions at H-E-B that require pre-employment drug tests are:

• Forklift driver

• Pallet jack operator

• Truck driver

• Food preparer who uses appliances or knives

H-E-B is also a smoke-free workplace that does not allow employees to use tobacco or vaping products while inside of its building or outside of a scheduled lunch break. If an employee smokes during their break they are asked to remove their work shirt while doing so. They must also smoke in the designated smoking area, and wash their hands before returning to work.
