John Deere is known to do two different types of drug tests. A urine test and a hair follicle test. You have to complete one or sometimes both during the hiring process. A hair follicle drug test screens for these substances:
Cannabis
Cocaine
Opiates - opium and codeine derivatives
Amphetamines and methamphetamines
Phencyclidine - PCP
The company does not perform random drug tests on employees. However, if an employee is suspected of being intoxicated or addicted to drugs while working, or if they are involved in a workplace accident, they are asked to participate in a drug screening. If they fail this test, disciplinary action may be taken, including termination.
