The key to writing a good profile summary is to include a few key adjectives to describe yourself and mention some key accomplishments.
For example, "Accomplished and energetic sales professional with eight years of experience in the automotive industry. Thanks to excellent customer service, great people skills, and a personable attitude. Top sales leader for two years in a row."
Next, you should elaborate on the specific experiences you have working in sales or sales-related roles. Here, you'll want to showcase your experiences through your achievements using action verbs. For example, "Personally responsible for driving overall company profits up by 2% year on year."
If you're just starting out your career in sales, then include any relevant past positions. Working as a server, for example, can demonstrate many important transferable skills when it comes to working as a sales professional.
If it's earlier in your career, take advantage of other sections on your resume to help demonstrate what you bring to the table.
For example, the education section is an excellent place to showcase key skills through academic achievements, group projects, and relevant coursework. Other optional sections to include are certifications, awards, volunteer work, and hobbies (if relevant).
Finally, be sure to include a customized list of skills. Include no more than ten hard and soft skills that not only reflect your own abilities but also align with those mentioned in the job description.
