How do you describe cooking on a resume?

By Zippia Team - Mar. 3, 2022

To describe cooking on a resume, list as many specific skills relevant to the job you are applying for. If you have attended culinary school, include this at the bottom of your resume after your work experience.

When writing about your work experience as a cook, start with your most recent position. Include this in the experience section of your resume.

For each separate kitchen or restaurant, you have worked, including how long you were employed and the name and location of the place. For example, "Line Cook, Martha's Kitchen, January 2018-March 2020."

Along with a description of your duties, including the size and style of where you worked, for example:

  • Worked in a busy kitchen in a 4-star hotel.

  • Prepped salads and created seasonal dressings from scratch

  • Served as a pastry chef on weekends

Include information on any promotions or accomplishments during your time.
