How hard is it to become a real estate broker?
It is relatively hard to become a real estate broker. You need to obtain a valid real estate license, gain two to three years of practical experience, and pass the real estate brokerage exam.
To become a real estate broker you must be a legal U.S. resident, although not a legal U.S. citizen, and meet your state's minimum age requirement. Different states vary on age requirements but most fall in the 18 to 21 range. You also must be able to pass a background check showing you have a clean criminal history.
In terms of educational requirements, this also varies state to state. Many states require completing a broker course or getting a degree that includes courses relevant to information you will be tested on with the broker exam.
