How hard is it to become an EMT?

It is not too hard to become an EMT if you are willing to put in the work and can handle the difficult emotional toil of being an EMT. Typically, EMT training takes, on average, three to eleven weeks to complete. The program includes 120 hours of training, including classroom instruction and hands-on experience.

EMTs are trained to provide basic emergency care to patients outside hospitals and safely transport them to a hospital or healthcare facility. This is a high-stress career, which can be difficult for some people who prefer slower-paced work.

One thing to remember about becoming an EMT is that continual requirements exist. National Registered EMTs will need to renew their certification every two years. You may choose to take a cognitive exam or finish coursework.
