How hard is it to get into nursing school?

Nursing is a profession that puts a lot of trust into its workers, after all, it deals with the health and well-being of sometimes extremely ill patients. This is an enormous responsibility that can sometimes result in life or death consequences, so it is not hard to understand why nursing schools can be selective.

Nursing schools are competitive and hard to get into for other reasons as well. One key reason is that there are not enough nursing schools to meet the demand of the amount of applicants.

These schools also often receive thousands upon thousands of applicants, many of which are impressive candidates, but can only grant admission to a fraction of these applicants.

Another factor is that there is often a shortage of nursing instructors at many of these schools, resulting in an inability to expand enrollment.

The final reason is related to the expensive facilities and technology that nursing schools require.

An adequate nursing school needs substantial funds to dedicate to the proper equipment needed to sufficiently train nurses. Schools that lack the funds to keep up with technological changes in the industry are not able to increase their enrollment.
