How long does it take to become a certified case manager?

By Zippia Team - Nov. 2, 2021

It will take candidates with a master's degree in social work an average of eighteen months experience to become certified case managers.

According to the Commission for Case Manager Certification, candidates meeting the educational requirements must also have case management experience. A minimum of one year under the supervision of a certified case manager will qualify the candidate's eligibility to take the certification exam.

Suppose a candidate is working in a position where they do not have a certified supervisor. In that case, the CCMC will accept two years of case management experience to qualify as eligible for the exam. After taking the CCMC exam, candidates are typically notified of their results in two to three weeks.
