How long does it take to become a Lube Technician?

It takes 2 years of professional experience to become a lube technician. That is the time it takes to learn specific lube technician skills, but does not account for time spent in formal education.

1. Customer Service -- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills at all times ensuring customer satisfaction by providing information and resolving complaints or discrepancies.

2. Hand Tools -- Performed safely use hand tools, such as impact wrenches, ratchets, sockets, jacks, and automotive lift equipment.

3. Vehicle Inspections -- Performed used vehicle inspections with repairs as deemed necessary by service manager.

4. Oil Changes -- General automotive repair including tire replacement, oil changes, and battery replacement

5. Air Pressure -- Check air pressure in vehicle tires, levels of motor oil, transmission fluid, cooling system, battery, etc.

Common Certifications For A Lube Technician

The EPA Amusement Operators Safety Certification (EPA) certification is most common among Lube Technicians. This certification is awarded by the Event Planners Association. This certification is great to have as it shows an improvement in your competency to perform your role. You can earn this certification at the beginning of your career, as it often doesn't require a minimum education level and work experience. To become a certified Lube Technician with EPA Amusement Operators Safety Certification (EPA), You need to pass the exam.
