This question is about personal fitness trainer certifications.
The time it takes to get a NASM certification varies depending on the type of certification. Depending on the program, the average time is between 4-8 weeks. However, the more specialized certifications, such as the Performance Enhancement Specialist, may take up to 8-12 weeks to complete.
The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) offers four primary certifications: Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), and Weight Loss Specialist (WLS).
To become NASM certified, you must pass the NCCA-accredited personal trainer certification exam.
The most popular option is the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification, which requires applicants to pass an exam. Additionally, applicants must have a valid CPR/AED certification, complete a criminal background check, and agree to abide by the Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice.
A CPT certification takes anywhere from 8 to 15 weeks to complete the preparation and exams necessary to become certified. While the CES certification requires a minimum of 6 weeks, and the PES and WLS certifications each require a minimum of 4 weeks to complete.
After you pass the exam, you can print a temporary certificate from your Account Page after three to five business days.
To become a NASM-CPT, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have current Emergency Cardiopulmonary Resuscitated (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification before sitting for the exam (not required to purchase the NASM-CPT).
You must be passionate about health and fitness and helping others live healthier lives!
