How long is seminary school?

By Zippia Team - Jan. 8, 2023

Seminary school is four years in length, however, it takes a total of eight years to become a priest. This is because after the four years of seminary college, you then must complete four more years of study at a theological seminary.

During seminary school much of your time is devoted to the following activities:

  • Study

  • Prayer

  • Spiritual direction

  • Formation

Because of these time-consuming activities, most people who enter seminary school right after high school become ordained as priests around the age of 26.
