How many hours can a minor work in California?
A minor in California can work 4 hours a day on any school day, and 8 hours a day on any non-school day or any day prior to a non-school day. Non-school days include weekends, holidays, and other days in which a school might be closed.
Minors in California can work up to 48 hours per week and between the times of 5 am and 10 pm. On nights prior to non-school days, minors can work until 12:30 am.
A working minor in California must be 16 or 17 years old. Minors under the age of 16 are not allowed to work in California.
