How many hours can work if you are on disability

You can work up to 45 hours per month when you are on disability. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) allows workers on it to work for up to 45 hours each month if they are self-employed. This averages out to 10 hours per week.

There are also limitations to how much you can earn when you are on disability. In 2022, the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) FBR, or maximum earnings, was $841 per month for a single person on disability, and $1,261 per month for eligible couples on disability. For students that are under the age of 22 the maximum amount is $8,230 per year.
